Former Taraba State governor, Jolly Nyame, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress, citing what he described as prolonged political marginalisation and unfair treatment of his supporters within the party. Nyame announced his decision after a meeting with political associates and supporters following proceedings at the Federal High Court in Jalingo. According to the former governor, consultations were held with stakeholders from Zing Local Government Area before the final decision was reached. He explained that his next political steps would focus on collaborating with individuals and groups committed to improving development and strengthening political representation for his community. Nyame said years of loyalty to the APC had not translated into meaningful inclusion or political recognition for the people he represents. He argued that his community had continued to experience neglect in both political appointments and broader governance matters. He also referenced his leadership role within the Yorro community, which includes the Mumuye, Yandan and Yorti groups, stating that disregard for the interests and contributions of the area contributed to his growing dissatisfaction with the party. According to him, many people in the community believe they have remained politically sidelined and excluded from key decision-making processes over the years. The former governor further disclosed that supporters had been urging him to contest in the 2027 general elections. However, he noted that pursuing another elective office was not a personal priority at his age, stressing instead that the pressure from supporters reflected deeper frustrations over what they perceive as years of inadequate representation. Nyame warned that continued neglect of the concerns raised by his community could worsen political discontent, urging his supporters to remain united as efforts continue toward securing what he described as fair treatment and stronger political inclusion. Taraba is one funny state where everyone gov is always independent of the former.....right from nyame to suntai to dabo as acting to darius and now the incumbent, there is always no love lost between them......very unique in their politics.....in other places you still see some form of camaraderie amongst predecessors and successors but in taraba,its a L for everyone to take in peace.
