If I am confirmed as the Minister of Power, I will not stand here and say tomorrow [we will have 24 hours of power].

But whenever I tell you about a very high standard [of service], I would be sure that visible improvement is seen across the country in the shortest time possible.

I promise that we’ll reduce uncertainty for Nigeria with clarity. Distribution is inconsistent, and even if we misalign, it will cause a lot of issues.

Metering gap continues to erode trust. Today we have 44% metering gap in Nigeria. But our government is doing extremely well. In the last one year we’ve rolled out over 1 million meters across [the country]. We need to ramp up and make sure that we make more progress.

The governance of this sector remains under pressure. In simple terms, we are trying to build a viable power system on a firmer operational and financial structure.

Fashola to Nigerians: 'If You Want to Have Stable Electricity Supply, Vote PDP Out in 2015'

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, while marking his 2,600 days in office at an elaborate ceremony held at the Blue Roof of the Lagos Television premises, has said voting out the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from power in next year’s general election is the only way the country can have stable electricity.

According to The Nation, Fashola said electricity crisis in the country is caused by lack of ideas and insincerity of purpose on the part of Federal Government.

"Yes I agree with you that it is possible to generate electricity and to make sure that everybody in this country has electricity, we have to do the right thing. But you know what, the only way that you and I will have electricity in this country will be to vote out the PDP.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, on Sunday evening boasted that he could provide uninterrupted power supply to Lagos residents between six and eight months.

Fashola spoke at the commissioning of 8.5 megawatts Lekki Independent Power Project (IPP), the fifth of such power projects in the last five years in the state.

The governor said the addition of the Lekki IPP was a testament to the fact that stable power does not require rocket science to achieve in the country.

While challenging power distribution companies in the state, Fashola said, “Let the Eko DISCOs sign a contract with me, giving part of their concessioning to the state government, in about six to eight months, there will be power in all homes in Lagos State,” Fashola said.

He added, “So, let no one say that he has no money to deliver power for the entire country. This is the limit to which the law allows us to do, but we have done this to make a statement that power can be generated. So, when they come with lies that power is impossible, you can tell them that we have power here; we make it possible”.

The project, courtesy of the state government, in partnership with Heritage Bank, is to serve Lagos State Water Corporations in Lekki Phase 1, Oniru, Victoria Island and Ikoyi, as well as over 25km of public lightening in the Lekki axis.

Just as I was discussing with my friend in Nigeria this morning about the former minister of power, who has been in the system for 2 and a half years and has failed to deliver the mandate his oga at the top promised Nigerians. He didn't leave as soon as he knew things wouldn't align with the OGA mandate. After much budget paddling and internal embezzling, he left like a thief in the night, just as the passenger told us, allegedly.

Now this man is saying he can't promise Nigerians, but your oga explicitly told Nigerians that if he fails in the power sector, no voting for him. Why is he projecting for another election when he should just bow and leave as a man of integrity?

It makes me ask the question, are we living in any civilization if we can't have light

A country at war cares so much to restore power to its people, they even provided updates on the power situation in their country, they didn't use the war as an excuse but in my own country, these wicked people use all manner of man-made excuses to put us in darkness, pain and suffering. Every Nigerian becomes an analyst, analyzing waterfalls from Kainji Dam to river sediments of Bakassi peninsular. May woe betide una 👐 It's not a curse. It is what you need because what you have shown us is that you are ungrateful. We are ungrateful people in this country and we should stop insulting God. Nigerians are the most ungrateful people on earth because God blessed us with abundance of resources and wealth but we insult the creator by giving weak excuses and ensuring that people suffer while we take care of our own immediate family and friends. We don't like ourselves, we just pretend we do.

In other countries, they make sure people are okay first. Here, we want to steal everything for ourselves and family, most people don't care about the state. They send their kids abroad, no excuses. They holiday abroad. They show off abroad. What kind of people are these? I can't just speak for God because if I were the one who created this kind of people, I would be so irritated because I see how you take pride in making your own people suffer but stash the money abroad. The president is in power, the supporters are more interested in peppering Obidients. If the president does well, isn't it to everyone's enjoyment and benefit? What sort of tomfoolery makes you bothered about opposition when you have the opportunity to use the goddamn power to fix things? I see in the war threads how people support either side but they don't reason. That country is a terrorist country as they claim here on NL but they have light. They have freaking light. No excuses. They are under sanctions. Here, they give all manner of excuses, sabotage the country, cache out our money, only for it to be used by their oppressors. Clowns 🤡

Nigerian incompetence thrives on world chaos so they can have something to justify their dirty bottoms. It's such a shame and a disgrace that Libya and Iran can have light but in Nigeria, we are ready to blame the world economy. Hisses
