There was tension at a building site in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, after a labourer threatened to kill anyone who insults Prophet Muhammad during a heated confrontation with his boss.

In a video seen by SaharaReporters, the Hausa-speaking labourer is seen making disturbing comments while arguing with his employer at the construction site.

The incident reportedly happened after the boss questioned the labourer over statements he allegedly made about defending Prophet Muhammad against insults.

During the confrontation, the boss repeatedly asked the labourer whether he was truly willing to kill someone for insulting the Prophet.

Responding angrily, the labourer said, “That Anabi that you are calling, I will kill you now now (That prophet you are calling, I will kill you immediately).”


Shocked by the response, the boss immediately challenged him, saying, “You go kill me? You no go go house today. I go carry you go police station now now. So you can kill person because of Anabi Muhammad abi? Don’t come here again. I will not give you work again (You will kill me! You are not going home today. I will take you to the police station immediately. So you think you can kill someone because of Prophet Muhammad? Don’t come here again. I will not give you work again).”


The argument escalated further as the employer ordered the labourer to remove his cap, revealing dreadlocks underneath.

The boss then mocked him, asking whether he believed he could follow Prophet Muhammad and still enter paradise with dreadlocks.

The labourer responded that he could.

He again insisted that he was prepared to kill over insults directed at the Prophet.


“I will kill person because of Anabi Muhammad Rusullulahi Sallalahu Alyinwasalam [I will kill someone because of Prophet Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)],” he said.

While speaking further in Hausa, the labourer stated that anyone who kills a person for insulting Prophet Muhammad would go straight to heaven.

“The person will go Aljanna direct (The person will go straight to paradise),” he said.

The employer then questioned him about extremist groups, asking if he could become a member of Boko Haram.

The labourer, however, denied any affiliation with the group and said he could never join them.

“Never, I cannot join them,” he replied.

The boss expressed frustration over religious extremism and warned the labourer not to return to the area.

“The person that come from Arab side and you that are in Nigeria, you will kill someone because of Arab man [You, who are in Nigeria, will kill someone because of a man who came from the Arab region (the Prophet)],” the employer said.

“Don’t come to Ado-Ekiti again. We are now in problem in Nigeria because of religion.”

You can't blame the guy because the Islamic clerics that preached to him Al his few time here on earth ,has assured him that there will be heaven for any one that defend the dignity of Mohammed and is also ready to kill or die in the process. Unfortunately that is where we are today in this country.

Is it not a common sense? Why must you insult the prophet when you know it is a red line for the Muslims not even only Hausa-Fulani.

Religion is a serious matter for a religious person irrespective of the religion.

Even in some cultures and climes, there are certain things that if you do, it can easily result to the person being lynched to death and it may sound very astonishing to some other people's culture.

There is a place in India where they worship cow. If one intentionally kills cow there for food, that food can be his last food.


Even in government circles, treason will call for death penalty.

Let's respect each other's red line for peace.
