*“I Will Consult Widely” – Goodluck Jonathan Responds to Fresh Calls to Contest 2027 Presidential Election*

Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has hinted that he could consider a return to the 2027 presidential race, declaring, “I’ve heard you and I will consult widely.”

The former president made the remark while responding to a passionate appeal by a mammoth crowd of the Coalition for Jonathan 2027, which marched to his office in a renewed bid to draft him into the race to “save Nigeria” from collapse.

Addressing the coalition and the mammoth crowd of supporters, Jonathan stressed the importance of patriotism, peace, and active youth participation in the electoral process. He noted Nigeria’s persistently low voter turnout despite its huge voting population and urged young people especially to obtain their voter cards and get fully involved in politics.

While acknowledging the loud calls for him to run again, the ex-president stopped short of an immediate declaration but left the door wide open.

“I’ve heard you and I will consult widely,” he said, in what many interpret as his strongest indication yet of possible interest in the 2027 contest.

The Coalition for Jonathan 2027, led by Dr. Tom Ohikere, had earlier presented a strongly worded appeal, recalling their previous visit on April 8, 2026.

“Last month, April 8th 2026, The Coalition For Jonathan 2027 paid a friendly visit to your excellency to urge you to run the 2027 Presidential elections to save Nigeria from the impending collapse. Though we did not meet you in person, we believe that our message was unreservedly passed on to you, as it was to the entire Nigerian people through the media.

Since then, we have had little information as to whether you have yielded to our clarion call as you have not yet, within our knowledge, picked a nomination for the presidential contest in any registered political party.

Because of our genuine fear of a possible collapse of Nigeria as peace and unity is now gradually eluding all of us, we decided to march on your office today again hoping you will step out to receive us and make a statement that will gladden our hearts and the entire nation.

We are asking you to hear our cries and contest the 2027 presidential elections sir. This mammoth crowd that came with us here today is a fragment of your supporters nationwide and represents every tribe and tongue and every religious belief in this country. We, young and old, girls and boys, men and women, are all here crying for your voice to say ‘yes’ to our request.

We are asking you sir, to kindly:

1. Make a commitment to run the 2027 presidential elections.
2. Immediately pick a presidential nomination form of any party of your choice to contest the elections. We pledge to join you in any party of your choice, and to rally millions of supporters nationwide for you.
3. Contest the 2027 Presidential elections and give us the opportunity to vote for you once again.

May God bless you sir, as you say yes to our hearts request. Long life to you. Long live Nigeria.”

OgA better remain in Otueke than return, as much as I enjoyed your administration back then, things have horribly changed the mess APC Tinubu and Buhari have kept Nigeria would take decades or centuries to reverse. The only thing this country needs right now is to split into two, Muslim North and Christian South. That way we can better govern ourselves

Fantastic. So we can have the choice between two great leaders. We can have either Peter Obi or GEJ. However with Wike shattering PDP out of his greed and Obi already in NDC, where will the consultation lead GEJ to? PDP will not have a candidate. Even if there’s a candidate, he will be weakened to allow PDP supporters vote for BAT on the basis of Wike’s arrangements. Again, GEJ can serve out his second term if successful.

2027 will be very interesting if GEJ throws his hat into the ring. Much as I want to see him return, we have a very decent, sincere, upright and trusted man called Peter Obi, vying for the position now. GEJ will not make the move.
