A Federal High Court in Abuja will on Friday hear a suit seeking to restrain Goodluck Jonathan, the former president, from contesting the 2027 presidential election.

On April 28, Peter Lifu, the presiding judge, ordered that hearing notices be issued and served on the defendants, who were yet to file their responses.

The suit was filed by Johnmary Jideobi, a lawyer, who is asking the court to declare Jonathan constitutionally ineligible to seek the presidency again.

Atiku is a joke to you right? So you think the north would vote Obi who would say he wants to do two terms to a tested and tried Jonathan who would only do one term?? The north decides elections in Naija. Reason obi lost and Tinubu won was the north. If obi had gotten solid votes from the north in 2023 he would have been president by now.

The law was amended specifically because of him in 2017, this question of law was what destroyed the Pdp in 2013/2014.

This is not correct.
In 2015, this matter came up that Jonathan was running for a third term.
The Appeal Court ruled that Jonathan only completed the term of Yar'Adua in 2010-2011. His first and only term was in 2011... That was the Appeal Court decision.

After the change of that law in 2018..... The Federal High Court ruled in Yenagoa that the law is not retroactive. By the virtue of the fact that the law was created after Jonathan ran his term, he is not affected by it. If you need the full judgement in 2022, I can send via gdrive.

Again, it's common law that one is not affected by retroactive law unless time-framed.

A statement by Chris Okeke, media adviser to the former first lady, said she was among the graduating students at the 43rd convocation ceremony of the university, which took place on Saturday.

Speaking during a testimony session at Streams of Joy International Church, the former first lady, who recently earned a PhD in Psychology, Guidance and Counselling, recounted moments of profound frustration and self-doubt that punctuated her pursuit of higher education.

She cited demanding academic requirements, including repeated assignments and high expectations from her instructors, as factors that almost led her to quit.

Very soon, I will leave this place and rest because what will I do with it? It’s just to keep the brain moving.'”

Mrs. Jonathan admitted she initially doubted her ability to complete the program, especially after serving as the nation’s First Lady.

“When I went to pick up my PhD form, I thought I would not make it,” she confessed. However, she found divine encouragement: “But God told me to go there. He said, ‘If your children can make it, why can’t you?’”

Throughout her studies, Mrs. Jonathan embraced her role as the oldest student in the classroom, demonstrating a remarkable humility and eagerness to learn.

“I would go to class and sit on the bench with my children. I was the ‘Mama’ among them, and I wasn’t ashamed,” she recounted.

She was unafraid to ask questions, even if it meant seeking clarification multiple times.

“The teacher would be teaching, I would raise my hand and ask questions because the younger ones would understand immediately, but, as a ‘Mama’, I had to ask questions three times before I understood one thing,” she concluded.

Reading this, it is impressive that she has done this with her life. Right now we have presidents and aspirants whose qualifications and education are in doubt. Nothing stops anyone from learning. Never too late.

That's hardly the case here. The window for political parties to forward their list of registered members is fast closing, probably days away. This case will last months if not even years.

Stop painting Jonathan badly while making Peter as a saint, Obi too was a corrupted governor, Pandora magazine will give you more details about that. No politician is a saint in Nigeria.
