Assalaam Alaekum Wa Rrahmatullah Wa Barakatuh

*ACTIONS NOT TO BE NEGLECTED DURING THE FIVE DAILY SOLAAT AND NAWAAFIL*

There are actions highly recommended that should not be neglected in our 5 Daily Solaat and Nawafil.

✓ *WHERE TO LOOK WHILE IN STANDING POSITION DURING SOLAAT*
You should look at the place/point of your
prostration (sujūd) on the ground. It was reported that
the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to keep his gaze towards the place of his prostration while praying.[Sunan
al-Bayhaqī Al-
Hākim]

The Holy Prophet Muhammad said:
“What is wrong with people who raise their eyes to the sky during prayer? They must stop that or their eyesight will be taken away.” — [Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim]

According to the Holy Quran:
“Successful indeed are the believers, those who are humble in their prayers.”(Q23:1&2)

Lowering the gaze helps achieve khushū‘ (humility and concentration in prayer). It is
recommended (mustaḥabb) to keep the gaze towards the place of sujūd during prayer - Imam Nawaawi.

Ibn Taymiyyah also
explained that this
helps in preventing distraction and it increases humility in our prayers.

✓ *WHERE TO LOOK IN RUKUU/BOWING AND SUJUUD/PROSTRATION DURING SOLAAT*

* In Rukuu (bowing):

Imam An-Nawawi said:
The Sunnah is that one keeps his
gaze towards the place of prostration in all parts of the prayer."He should look towards the place of prostration in rukū‘ as well."[Ibn Qudamah].

* In Sujūd (Prostration)

One should look at the ground, towards the nose area or spot targeted for the prostration on the ground since your
face is already on the ground, your eyes naturally
face downward. Avoid closing the
eyes unless necessary (some scholars disliked it without reason).

Note that Sujūd is the peak of humility.

✓ *WHERE TO LOOK WHILE PERFORMING TASHAHHUD IN SITTING POSITION DURING SOLAAT*

You are to look at your index finger (the finger of tashahhud).

The Holy Prophet Muhammad would point with his index finger and keep his gaze fixed on it while making du‘ā’.

In another narration:
The Prophet ﷺ:
“...would not let his gaze go beyond his pointing finger.”

It prevents distraction and increases focus during du‘ā’.

It also reinforces Tawḥīd (Oneness of Allah) symbolized by the finger.

In Conclusion: The importance
of attentiveness and God-consciousness (khushū‘) in Ṣalāh cannot be overemphasized. Observing these acts greatly enhances our focus and mindfulness in every aspect of worship—whether Farḍ, Sunnah or Mustaḥab—thereby helping us attain optimal reward.

Distractions such as looking around or fidgeting should be strictly avoided in both Fardu (Obligatory) prayers and Nawāfil (Non-Obligatory) prayers so that we may achieve the true purpose of worshipping Allāh.

We Pray Allah to Continue to Guard and Guide us Aright Protect us Have Mercy on us Increase us in Knowledge Sustenance and Piety and Enable us become Better MUSLIMS Better NIGERIANS.

Happy Jumaat, Happy Weekend.

There is nothing like the word Tawheed in the Quran

You forgot to tell us during the Tashahhud that you are praying to Muhammad... yes tell us

When prophets pray they look up ... Ya Allah... but Muhammad said it haram, you see the difference?

Praying and facing a direction is limiting Allah to a spot.. a whole one of the creators of the earth

Akantronics:
I will never have anything to do with a religion that have to face a special direction before prayers are answered, pray with just a language (Arabian), no be juju be that. even to piss and shit needs a special way .
Everyone praying towards a direction indicates unity towards a direction. It would be awkward to watch 1000s of people prayer at the same time with some face north while others face other directions. Allah is everywhere and He told us to face wherever we want if we don’t know what exact direction to face.

The language also is indicative of unity, and believers pray in their own languages after the normal sallah.
Islam is the religion that units the entirety of mankind. The Bible Zephanian talks about the coming of way of worship in a pure language that the lord will favor.
