Think of Micheal Carrick,Andrea Pirlo,Sergio Busquet,Toni Kross,Xavi Hernandez,Xabi Alonso none of them were repelling attacks but initiating it. Maybe with the exception of Xabi Alonso, none of these midfielders were combative,throwing useless tackles up and down but setting up attacks.
