numericalguy:Lmao.... Dude, rest. Not every story is like yours. I wonder why your dad had to stop in ND, why not HND? I know people with Distinction and Upper Credit with a HND who got plum jobs in Dangote sugar company as well as other food industries. Maybe today's HND is no longer good enough, back then in the 2000s, it was still a force to reckon with in terms of delivery and value. |

SonOfEl:My dad stopped at OND in the 1980s because he was already employed and married with 2 kids already and he felt he had had enough of education. Which Dangote are you talking about? Don't even mention Dangote at all. Did your HND friends at Dangote lie to you or what? Didn't you HND friends at Dangote tell you the difference in renumeration and other benefits between B.Sc and HND? You make me laugh that you mentioned Dangote company. Same Dangote that has different career paths for B.Sc and HND ![]() Guy, you are just arguing for argument sake. I was born into engineering household and I grew up in that field. I have three other brothers with degrees in engineering and I can only laugh at your rank ignorance. To be frank, I was expecting you to mention certain professional skills where polytechnic guys have been able to reduce the gap but your ignorance didn't help you to know this areas instead you went and mentioned core engineering companies like Dangote where NSE and COREN are being used to slap and maltreate HNDs on a steady ![]() |

numericalguy:From your post, it is obvious that you are young (perhaps gen z). No one will contest what I have said with regards to HND graduates (with distinction or upper credits) having HA CCP certification, holding jobs with fair salaries in Dangote Sugar Company, Promasidor, Cadbury, NBC, Crown Flour Mills, etc in the 2000s up to even the 2010s. |

SonOfEl:It looks like you didn't read what I wrote very well or you struggle with comprehension. Let me ask you these: 1. So you have the statistics of an graduates in Nigeria concerning your claims? 2. Do you know that some universities offer Bachelor of Engineering degrees because you only mention BSc.? 3. Do you know there are other professions outside the disciplines in polytechnics? Such as LLB. Law programmes. Are legal practitioner, Medical, Nursing, Criminology or Forensic jobs polytechnic fields? Who is scrambling whose job? 4. And to you personally, what's your understanding of a research. If you don't know, I'll tell you now. It's about identifying knowledge gaps in reviewed literatures to profer solutions to existing problems and to also contribute to an existing body of knowledge. Those are the major research objectives of any research. |

SonOfEl:Hahaha.. ![]() I knew you were just arguing for argument sake because immideately I mentioned professional skills, you quickly googled and started mentioning the common and popular ones. So what is stopping a B.Sc and M.Sc holder in engineering from acquiring those professional skills and still lording over your HND who has professional skills. There is absolutely no escape for your HND people in any field as they will forever be lorded over by B.Sc holder. I am in a highly specialised field with deep professional skills and I head and direct mostly B.Sc holders who have professional skills. No HND who has professional skills reports directly to me because they are too far behind me in rank. It is very very easy for me my B.Eng and M.Sc in engineering to get to management level in any organisation I work where as your HND and his skills will not have that opportunity. Even the young ladies working in any organisation will always prefer the B.Sc holder for relationships before your HND holders. |

SonOfEl:Your lost it when you start arguing without knowledge. You misunderstood me completely because I don't hate polytechnic in any way after all I am a I am a product of the polytechnic in a way since my father was a product of the polytechnic and he used the money he made with his polytechnic certificate to train all his children to university. I will forever be greatfull to my late father for not allowing any of his children to go to the polytechnic. The problem with people like you is trying to paint a false narrative and I always laugh because things are far from what you are saying. That being said. I will never advise anyone to go to polytechnic at all but if they already had polytechnic certificates I advise them to go for professional programmes to upgrade their skills and employability. I have trained many polytechnic guys and some are doing very well now. But no matter how well they do, they are always behind the B.Sc counterparts |

numericalguy:What do you know about knowledge? If polytechnic education messed you up, should we then mess ourselves up because of your tragedy? A HND with distinction or upper credit and professional certification is still of high value to technical and technological fields. BSc isn't a threat to it. You are a child so I dont blame your exuberance. |

SonOfEl:This is exactly why many of you polytechnic leavers are hardly employable. You couldn't even read a simple thing I wrote with understanding yet you want to compete with an intelligent and smart B.Sc holder who will floor you easily because you are too emotional and without logic. Where did I say I went to polytechnic or polytechnic had any affect on my life? You will not be able to talk to me if you saw me on real life. I have have held deputy rector in a diploma awarding institution under NBTE and that is an active academic position just because I have a B.Sc in Electrical engineering and an M.Sc in telecommunications engineering plus experience. Can you register COREN or NSE with your HND? Can you legally be called an engineer with HND? Can you register an engineering company with HND? Even those that go for the PGD are still being seriously discriminated at not to talk of HND. You claimed B.Sc is not a threat to polytechnic yet all the top directors of NBTE are all university graduates. All the rectors and senior lecturers in the polytechnics are all university products. I know this because I have been involved in training so many polytechnic leavers. |
