Firstly, their religion doesn't permit insulting others.

Secondly, religion is not an excuse for uncivilised act. Any religion that encourages insults should be discarded and thrown away.

Finally, the prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was outspoken against all acts of disbelief, oppression and injustice even in Makkah. It's wrong to project cowardly and ignorant acts upon the noble prophet.
