Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has reacted after an X user reportedly ranked Tinubu as the worst among five Nigerian presidents.

The reaction was shared in a post published on Onanuga’s official X account on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

The controversy began after a social media user criticized Tinubu’s administration, claiming the President had failed in areas such as politics, the economy, electoral reform, foreign policy, and diplomacy.

Responding to the criticism, Onanuga defended the administration and rejected the negative assessment of Tinubu’s performance since assuming office. According to him, the current government has recorded numerous achievements that critics may be overlooking.

In his response, the presidential aide suggested that the critic was unable to properly appreciate the administration’s accomplishments.

He wrote, “You need Jigi Bola to enable you appreciate the innumerable achievement of the Tinubu administration.

The statement quickly attracted reactions online, with supporters and critics of the government debating the performance of the Tinubu administration across different sectors.

While some social media users agreed with Onanuga’s defense of the President and pointed to ongoing reforms and infrastructure projects, others maintained that many Nigerians are still struggling with economic hardship, inflation, insecurity, and rising living costs.

Those defending Tinubu are shameless. I want to believe that they are receiving something from him directly or indirectly. The terrorism has taken another dimension without any sign of government readiness to tackle the menace. They are just lobbying to suppress the truth and sell the wrong narratives of the peace that is inexistent.
