Over the past few hours, social media has been buzzing over reports that a Delta State High Court sitting in Effurun ordered social media commentator VeryDarkMan (VDM) to pay over ₦30 million in damages following comments he allegedly made about comedian Mr Jollof’s wife.

But many people online are only reacting to the judgment without understanding how the whole beef actually started.

So here’s a quick breakdown

The feud between VDM and Mr Jollof reportedly started back in 2024 after VDM called out Blord’s BillPoint app over alleged customer complaints and withheld funds.
Which led to a serious beef between him and BLord

VDM then criticized Mr Jollof for allegedly promoting the platform despite the complaints from some users.

Mr Jollof strongly denied the allegations, and things quickly became personal between both sides.

At some point, Mr Jollof reportedly threatened to slap VDM if they ever met physically, while VDM also responded aggressively online.

But the real turning point reportedly came when allegations involving Mr Jollof’s wife, Mrs. Atsepoyi, entered the picture.

According to reports, VDM allegedly made claims linking her to politicians and Yahoo boys.

The allegations quickly spread online and became a major topic across blogs and social media.

Eventually, Mrs. Atsepoyi reportedly took legal action, arguing that the statements damaged her reputation and caused emotional distress.

Now fast forward to today, and reports claim the court ruled in her favor.

According to multiple reports:

* ₦20 million was awarded as general damages
* ₦10 million as aggravated damages
* ₦500,000 as legal costs
Reports also claim VDM was ordered to retract the statements and publish a public apology.

Did he defame the woman ? Yes ( at least the court has ruled that he did ) . Did he present evidence of his claims ? No . I remember his testimony . He must pay . Love the move of Mrs Jollof . You don’t argue or defend yourself in public spaces , you take legal actions .

If VDM likes , let him appeal and after that go to the Supreme Court . The best he can get is reduced damages but they will likely uphold the high court judgement. He would have effectively dragged the outcome but the outcome is highly inevitable .

The lesson is if you want to accuse someone , better do it to them personally . Dont go online to accuse people without evidence. Eg Tiwa savage had a leaked sex tape . Saying she slept with a guy on a boat and allowing it to be recorded shows she lacks sound judgement is NOT defamation . There is proof !
