Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has been successfully screened and cleared by the All Progressives Congress (APC) screening committee ahead of the party’s governorship primaries for the 2027 general elections.

The screening exercise for Fubara took place at the Plateau Governors Lodge in Abuja on Sunday, May 10, 2026. According to reports, the governor was among 3 serving governors whose credentials were verified and assessed by the committee. Awaji-Inombek Abiante, had earlier purchased and donated the forms to support Fubara’s bid for a second term, citing the need for continuity and development in the state.

From where I'm watching this whole drama, Wike finds himself in an un-eviable position, has neither control of the PDP nor APC

The Turaki PDP faction are playing a fast one on him too following the supreme court judgement, hence His instruction to his followers to defect to the APC last minute

The primaries are goin to be direct primaries. Will the APC aid Wike against FUBARA on that day with state institutions?

Right now, Fubara has the financial war chest to win Rivers state for Tinubu, He is just subtle about it, that's why he gave all the sitting governors power to anoint their candidate for HOR and Senate.

Tinubu knows Wike is becoming more powerful for him, and lot of APC members are complaining..... The moment Wike moves to APC definitely, that will become the beginning of their doom starting from Rivers State.

Note this, Fubara is getting the second term ticket, Tinubu will clip Wike's wing... Hope you know without his loyalist in the HOA ... Wike is nothing (Reason Tinubu gave the governor the power to anoint their candidate)
