His main aim was to stop Ukraine from joining NATO and to liberate the donbas region which has been achieved so far......the rest are to solidify the primary aims...for instance if Zelensky is removed a pro Russian or neutral govt will immediately end the war.

Do you recall that Putin amassed unbelievable amount of troops at Ukraine border and they started marching towards Kyiv with the aim to arrive within a week, with a list of those to be arrested. It was not meant to be a war or even a months-long conflict.
