Activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has backed the senatorial ambition of fellow activist Aisha Yesufu, who is contesting the FCT seat in the 2027 general elections, while criticising her party choice. Sowore made the remarks on Monday during an interview on Channels Television, where he said activists should not stay out of politics. “No, I totally support her. I’ve always told her that good people, people who believe that they can do things, should get into politics,” he said. He added that political participation remains a key form of activism, saying, “The business of politics is actually the biggest activism that has to be done to save society.” While expressing support for her ambition, he said she was aligned with the wrong party and should have joined his own platform. So I totally support her, and I hope she wins. Even though I think that she’s in the wrong party, she should have joined our party,” he added. Yesufu recently resigned from the African Democratic Congress and joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress, where she declared her intention to contest the FCT senatorial seat. She said her decision reflected a deeper political conviction, adding, “This deeper understanding is why I resigned from the African Democratic Congress to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress as I follow the leadership of HE Peter Obi, who today embodies the hope and aspiration of a Nigeria that works.” She also said she was not just joining the party but actively contesting, stating: “This time I am joining the NDC not just as a member but as one running for the FCT Senatorial seat.” Yesufu added that she had completed her responsibilities in the ADC and ensured a smooth exit. https://punchng.com/sowore-backs-aisha-yesufus-2027-senate-bid-says-party-choice-wrong/

The way and manner in which Kenneth Okonkwo changed because of alliance with Atiku has raised questions concerning the integrity of political players in Nigeria. All these while, one would have thought that he has personal integrity, Obi's defection to NDC has revealed the true personality of Kenneth Okonkwo. By so doing, he has made it clear that he is on the same page with the likes of Reno Omokri and Femi Fani Kayode. I want to believe that Aisha Yusuf won't be compromised as well. |

From her public track record, Aisha Yesufu has shown courage and strong involvement in national issues. She played major roles in the #BringBackOurGirls movement and the #EndSARS protests, where she spoke strongly against insecurity and police brutality in Nigeria. She has also continued to speak about governance, accountability, youth participation, and democracy. Many people see her as someone who is bold, outspoken, and ready to challenge bad leadership. She has also supported youth involvement in politics and civic engagement. But honestly, activism alone is not enough to fully judge leadership capacity. Politics and governance require not just courage, but also clear economic ideas, policy direction, development plans, team building, and the ability to manage public institutions successfully. So Nigerians should not only follow emotions, party, or social media popularity. We should carefully study every candidate’s vision, competence, plans for education, technology, industrial growth, security, youth empowerment, and economic development. Nigeria needs leaders that understand 21st-century development and can move the country forward with practical results. In the end, the power belongs to the people to study, ask questions, and vote wisely. — Hon. While expressing support for her ambition, he said she was aligned with the wrong party and should have joined his own platform.A platform where sowore is national chairman, secretary, treasurer, flagbearer and public relation officer! A party whose combined presidential votes from 2019 till date is not 90k is capping! Aisha knows that if she picked the AAC form, nah only her go vote for herself!😂 |
