Abba Anas Adamu Laushi, a governorship aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Jigawa state, has been killed by kidnappers after a ransom was reportedly paid for his release.

Laushi was abducted along the Kaduna-Abuja highway last Friday while travelling to purchase his nomination form for the governorship election.

The former lawmaker was said to have been kidnapped alongside another person after which the abductors demanded N75 million as ransom. The second victim reportedly escaped from captivity.


However, Laushi was allegedly killed by the kidnappers after the ransom had been paid. His remains have been transported to Kano for burial.

Laushi was a former member of the House of Representatives where he represented the Birniwa/Guri/Kirikasamma Federal Constituency of Jigawa state between 2007 and 2011.

Before his death, he was seeking the governorship ticket of the ADC in Jigawa state

Political killing or not, this is insecurity at its peak. If a former lawmaker can be abducted and wasted like this, then what is remaining for the common man?

The sorry state of insecurity in Nigeria should be a cause of concern to our leaders but guess what?2027 elections is all that matters to them,they move with large security entourage,their children are in other safer and sane nations,schooling or working while they Nigerian people are daily paying with their blood.
It's a pity that Nigeria is now a huge tragedy and a killing field.
Anytime I listen to foriegn news media and once Nigeria is mentioned,is either 30 killed,120 kidnapped,attack on one community,a church burnt down,the terrible state of IDP camps etc it's always a gory tale.This is a big shame and our shameless politicians care less. We are now a huge circus and the rest of the world mock Nigeria and sees us as an example of a failed state.

The dead didn't know that the Nigeria of now is not that of 10 years ago when he was a lawmaker. It's way worst now. If you want to contest even as councillor, you need many bodyguards or else you'll end up in a body bag.

This aint bandits abduction...this is political. Abj kad highway hasn't had kidnap cases in a long time.d only thing is d road is only 50% completed instead of d 95% widely reported

It is sad and pitiful. However, he was a federal lawmaker who could have played a part in making Nigeria safe and secure. Now the same monster they treated with kit gloves has grown to swallow him.

I thought insecurity ended when El Rufai left the Kaduna state government house.

Why is this happening despite the forever detention of the man who bailed out Tinubu from his cluelessness in Chatham House, before the city boy was allowed to grab power and run with it aimlessly like a headless pig 🐖?

Why did Tinubu not get his answers to insecurity questions from Ribadu in London? Shebi the 2011 ACN presidential candidate was part of the campaign team three years ago
