SIX COUNCIL CHAIRMEN ENDORSE APC NATIONAL VICE CHAIRMAN, KEKEMEKE FOR ONDO SOUTH SENATE SEAT
 

The senatorial ambition of Hon(Dr.) D. I Kekemeke received a great boost on Monday evening as all the six local governments Chairmen within Ondo South Senatorial District formally declared their support for his candidacy for the vacant seat.

The chairmen of the six councils who attended he meeting were Hon. Ogunsakin Andrew Soja( Okitipupa), Hon Adegoroye Taiwo (Odigbo), Hon .Jedi Akinfe(Irele) .
Others are Hon. Maurice Openaya(Ilaje), Hon. Ojo
Hon. Ebis Molos( Ese-Odo) and Hon Adebare Adebayo(Ile Iluji/Oke Igbo).
 
Making the declaration during a strategic meeting at Okitipupa, Ondo State, the Chairmen disclosed that their decision is hinged on the “ proven pedigree of Hon.(Dr.) D.I Kekemeke “ which, according to them, stands him out amongst  others   vying for the seat.

The Chairmen further stressed at the Meeting that for the purpose of maintaining  party stability and cohesion ,they completely align with the APC party’s position on consensus arrangement fully mediated by the Governor, His Excellency, Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa and the Party leaders in the State.

According to them, having made this decision in the over all interest of the party , “they have vow not to give audience to the few individuals that are yet to embrace the consensus arrangement”

While responding, Hon.( Dr.) D.I Kekemeke  noted that his candidacy is birthed by people’s trust and confidence of the Party that his is better equipped to make “ governance the more visible  and truly responsive through concrete efforts to fully tap the socio economic potentials of Ondo South for the good of the people “

He promised the Chairmen that he will not fail the party and the good of Ondo State to deliver the gains of responsive governance.

Honourable Isaacs Kekemeke has paid his dues in Ondo State politics. It is time he also enjoys some dividends. Sola Oke should also be considered. Baba is a perennial contestant, just like Atiku.

I’m not God or a prophet, but I don’t see him becoming Governor anymore. Age is no longer on his side, especially with the North-Central-South rotational arrangement in Ondo State. The current Governor is from the South; after him, power is expected to shift to the Central, then the North. By the time it eventually returns to the South, it could take 16 years or more. How old will Kekemeke be by then?

He attended Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 1988 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1989. He bagged a Master of Laws degree from the same University in 2006 and was due to bag a P.hD in Law from the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti.

DI as he is fondly called by friends has spiced his legal career of over 30 years with public service duties. He served as Minority Leader of the old Ondo State House of Assembly between January 1992 and November 1993. As young as he was then, he was always in the news making sure that things never went wrong as far as legislative duties were concerned. He was scrupulous that he never allowed the Assembly to be rubber stamp to all government programs and policies as at that time. He made sure there was scrutiny and he also ensured that due process was followed.

However, as dutiful as he was, he stabilized the National Examinations Council (NECO) as its pioneer Chairman of Council between 2001 and 2004. Kekemeke was also a member of President Yar’ adua’s Niger-Delta Technical Committee.
