This is actually the reality but ancient of days politicians like atiku, tinibu, buhari etc choosed to lived in the stone ages that's why they kept making references to religion and ethnicity which they always take advantage of to win their elections. Obi has the brightest chance going by the last election result followed by Kwankwanso. I choose these two because they left PDP and did not have the structure of the regular party, which Atiku benefitted from using the PDP platform. You also have to look at the time they had to test themselves between the election primaries and election.

If you want to know what that means, Ribadu ran the Presidential election in 2011 under AC and failed with that party structure. Obi and Kwankwanso have been able to test their popularity as candidates outside the regular establishments and done well. Both had no Governors in their party before contesting and pulled a good number in the last election. Buhari used his CPC to bargain with AC to get the Presidential slot in APC. Buhari could say whether he used ANPP or CPC, he could gather votes. I'm not so sure Atiku can do that. He was a presidential candidate of the Action Congress in the 2007 presidential election coming in third to Umaru Yar'Adua of the PDP and Muhammadu Buhari of the ANPP. Atiku came a distant third in that election with less than 10% of the votes.

Obi and Saraki/Kwankwanso

A Saraki will be a difficult campaign for APC that has defaulted to using tribes against themselves. Saraki ticks two boxes of Yoruba/North Central who have been looking for relevance since Gowon.

Atiku snubbed the debate because those he considered his peers were not there. Looking back, this could have been his mistake because he let Obi talk about what they wanted to do but he gave Obi the stage during this campaign due to his pride and this was the last time Obi contested as VP. Maybe if Atiku had taken the time to represent himself and ignore his competitors, this would have made him maintain his momentum. It was after this election they started calling Atiku Dubai Landlord that only comes back after 4 years. Obi took the opportunity from here to build. Osinbajo also tried but his boss was torn between publicly endorsing him, Lawan and Tinubu based on agreement. One of the problems Atiku has is not coming down from his high horse as VP. He still lives in that bubble of bigmanism but between 2007 and 2027, new set of voters have joined that don't care. He still thinks the demography of his voting base is the same as the 90s.

They canceled the debate since Tinubu refused to participate and the others did not see the sense in it. At Chatham House, Tinubu appointed Alake, El-Rufai, Fayemi and others to speak for him in his teamship. He later went to his own organized townhall to bala blue.

Rufai, these men don't believe in accountability. They believe in grabbing it, snatching it and running away with it. They believe the war chest they have will do the work for them and there is no need to explain anything to Nigerians. This is why Jonathan can win without defending anything. Just know that since APC came to power at the center, debates are a thing of the past. They want lords, consensus and party choice. This is why I will not support Atiku, though he is better in talking to us than Tinubu but he too has that mindset that Tinubu has.
