Which nations are closest to the free market communist model? In a real free market, no entity will be restricted from seeking profit and especially the government. In an actual free market, the government will be the number one investor and profit seeker headquartered in the country. This is why the US and the entire western world are not real free markets as their governments are largely restricted from seeking profit. The only outlier in the bloc is Norway. In a real communist country, no individual will be left behind. The HDI will be very high and the individual will also be statutorily required to seek profit apart from wages as it is an important requirement to level everybody up. This requirement to seek profit apart from wages is only partially applicable in Nigeria where a certain class of workers are statutorily required to save into licensed pension funds. In a real communist country, all workers from self employed people up will be required to save into pension funds China had an income from government investments in one year that is over 360 billion dollars and if GDP per Capita were considered, such a sum will correspond to over 1.3 trillion dollars in the USA. If we assume a five percent returns on investments, then the investment that yielded that returns should be around 26 trillion dollars. Norway has a national investment portfolio of almost two trillion dollars and they are therefore the leader by national investment per Capita as they are only five million people compared to China's 1.4 billion people. Both nations have no pension funds yet and also no right to a means of livelihood but in my honest opinion the two of them are the closest to what I call the free market communist model. However the defunct western state of Nigeria was also close. They did not have full employment, though they had full graduate employment, they also did not have the right to a means of livelihood nor pension funds. All nations can join the effort immediately. The Chinese fund if cost of living were evened out across the world will flat out at less than 1.3 trillion dollars for 1.4 billion people while the Norwegian fund will flat out at less than 200 billion dollars for 5:million people. There are also some other funds owned by other nations and any big nation can start out big. |

@OP. Communism is essentially dead today because it's essence runs contrary to how humans are naturally wired. Man needs to be aspirational and have things to chase the majority of his life. We like individuality also and do not wish to be predictably robotic as communism creates. Take those natural instincts of man away and that is an artifical construct seeking to modify his nature and normal impulses. Communism diminished for that reason and isn't a consideration today. China you mention isn't even communist in a purist way. Perhaps you aren't aware of that. Vietnam, Laos, North Korea and Cuba are the closest vestiges of communist nation today. 4 out of 195 countries of the world. Dont you think that indicates a democratic pattern based on what the majority have chosen?

WizardOfNG:The aim of communism is to make the society classless. You can arrive at that destination via the free market but people have been trying to arrive there through socialism alone. What is wrong with arriving at it through the free market? Was the Soviet society more classless than the Norwegian society today or the Chinese society today who are communists with free market? |

lawani:A "classless" society is not good for Nigeria that has over 300 ethbic groups and many religions, cultures etal. When that is a reality of a geographic space, competition and reward system, based on individual developing their talent optimally to stand out, is best. Socio-capitalism is better for Nigeria in my opinion. Please look into it. Don't forget it is a warped and hidden version of communism ( via damaging Government subsidies in every sector that made Nigerians indolent, uninspired, non aspirational and incapable of delivering solutions for themselves) that has destroyed Nigeria to leave what we have today. Are you happy at subsidised and "classless" education that produces Nigerian civil Engineers who cannot even handle Lekki expressway , talk less of a major project like fourth mainland Bridgend, and we have to see Lebanese and German engineers everywhere? |

WizardOfNG:Why is a classless society not good for Nigeria? Any country can become where your net worth rise as you age and your HDI is high. That would be a classless society. The average sixty year old can be a PhD worth up to fifty million naira. It is not hard to achieve. Our Engineers are not that bad but it is not graduates that build things but companies and those companies do have secrets. How graduates can help is they can easily be taught those secrets as they have a basic understanding of how things work in the discipline where they have honours. You need to train graduates and even with thousands trained, you can try for decades and not get a basic thing right unless a company with trade secrets agrees to help you |
