Keep it up my brother. U are doing well, I knew this from a friend in my office- he too went back to Edo to kick start his father cocoa farm and today,he is doing exceedingly well.

I inherited seven stems of Cocoa with a plot of land in the village that was only good for Agriculture from my dad about 5 years ago when he transion to the other side. I was struggling with a Para military job that the pay couldn't take me home.

I decided to look homeward. Applied for study leave, went back home to my father's land, cleared the only plot he had and extended the cocoa farm of seven stems to about 300 stems as at today.

I initially did 900 nursery for transplant but only about 300 survived.

Today my farm pays me more than what I spent 5years to study in school.

Best way to live life in my opinion. Also be sure to plant what you eat. Everything shouldn't be for the market

Keep it as a side hustle. This farm cannot make you live the life you want. You will just be managing. It won't even be able to pay your children's school fees if u want them to go to a good school

How can over 300 stems of matured cocoa be on a plot of land and yet the same land still had space for further farm crops? Not adding up. Except that land is more than 5 plots.

As a commodities business person myself, indeed export of commodities fetches a lot of Nigeria farmers go FX.

Actually, the Ivory Coast and Ghanaian harvests of 2023 and 2024 were hit by disease and the two top producers lost 80% of their production. Nigeria's production was spared, which is why cocoa prices went as high as $11,000 per ton at the time. Prices were so high that thieves started raiding cocoa farms at night.

You guys had a windfall season. You deserve it because farming is not easy. The year I went back to it after my childhood farming, I snapped a ligament in my leg that took a whole year to heal. E no easy.

If there's any regret l have in life its the fact that l don't invest in farming and livestocks. Recently,l read about a Uganda senior lady lecturer who resigned and taking care of large numbers of goats in the jungle.When asked if she regretted leaving the city for jungle she said her joy knows no limit living in the jungle while making millions compare with many times Uganda government wouldn't pay their salaries as lecturer.If l can just reverse my age to twenties,l will carefully go and settle down for farming and livestocks in particular jeje. Oh,age has cheated on me!

A cocoa tree has 70 years of production. It will only get better for him for the next 40 years. It will outlive him.

People on the field benefiting are thanking Tinubu, a jobless man with no hope for the future is telling then what their experience is even when he as never been close to them.

no mind the guy. Even with the existing rate before Tinubu, cash crop farmers still did well. Tinubu's policies didn't do any magic but worsened the situation.

farming is not for the poor, some people are suffering with hard labour in the name of farming... Like any other sources of income there are risks.

It's peaceful, gainful and better in the long run
