The Rivers State All Progressives Congress, APC, House of Assembly Screening Appeal Committee, chaired by Abdul Mahmud, has confirmed the disqualification of aspirants linked to the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

DAILY POST reports that about 33 aspirants who participated in the screening exercise on Saturday were cleared while 65 were disqualified.

The 65 disqualified aspirants have been identified as Fubara’s loyalists.

Addressing journalists on Tuesday, the appeal committee chairman confirmed that 19 appeals have been submitted by some of the disqualified aspirants.

He stated that the submission of appeals ends on Wednesday.

According to the committee, the final list of cleared aspirants will be released when the date for appeals elapses.

It has to be give and take. If Fubara is allowed to contest, the Assembly members must be from Wike’s camp. One camp can’t take it all. There must be checks and balances to ensure both camps have stake in the election and so can’t betray the party. Of course, all these wouldn’t have happened if they have truly reconciled and agree to work together.

He has consistently shown skill in exploiting the weaknesses of his opponents. From the Omehia vs. Amaechi battle, through the APC governorship primaries in 2015, to the Douye Diri vs. Lyon case where the judgment that brought Diri to power was linked to Wike and now, the numerous court cases against Sim.

Wike and Fubara are very important and strategic personalities in our great party.

If our party must hold power beyond 2039, we must make foster equity and equality.

His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) should step in and mediate on matters arising in Rivers state.

We have come to far to start have conflicts on minor issues.

You are witnessing impunity, corruption, brazen violation of all democratic tenets, partiality of party hierarchy, use of state institutions to oppress the opposition and you are calling it "true politician"

This is not democracy at all. The so called NADECO fraud have destroyed our democracy.

Tinubu is taking this country on a dangerous path which may snowball to crises. Nigeria cannot afford any political crisis in Rivers State being that it is the country economic artery.
