All of them are good.....I have the G5F and I used it for a while but currently am using the zlt x25 pro because of its mobility and also ease of use based on settings. I do see more Airtel Network PCIs on it compared to all the ODUs I have. The only ODU that came close is the Huawei ODU. Interms of raw speed, the ODUs are slightly faster than the x25pro.

I have had minimal network downtime on the x25pro compared to the ODUs. Its a reliable router mosttimes. I saw 5g Airtel network on my zlt x25pro at work, but am yet to see same 5g on my zlt ODU during the time I took it to work.

For now and for me, the x25pro ticks better, hopefully that will change when I fully have 5g Airtel network at home. I feel they(ODUs) will be stronger when 5g finally shows up

My ODU is ZTE and it has an install helper to aid in searching for strong signal.

I don't know if ZLT also has one. If it does, it will help you a great deal.

Na me lock am to 7,, all the band was ticked wen i got it .. band 7 is the-best

I have finally dumped that Airtel ZLT X25 (Base) 5G Router and joined your league.

Airtel ZTE G5FA+MF296A ODU just got installed this evening.

Is there any improvement in your speed?

In fact I made a whatsapp call and got voice clarity better than I ever imagined, download was mad.

Then later this evening until now, it became snail speed.

Even when speed improves a little, it is epileptic.

Is there any settings I should change to improve speed?

I have finally dumped that Airtel ZLT X25 (Base) 5G Router and joined your league.

Airtel ZTE G5FA+MF296A ODU just got installed this evening.

That X25 base model is not bad. It even has 3 LAN ports. The problem is that it can't be unlocked.

If your location is good, the G5 router is good. I actually haven't used the G5FA but I suppose it would give similar utility to the G5F.

That's the default router it comes with on this package. At 50Mbps I don't think a Wifi 6 router will make any difference.

They are using it to cut cost. It's probably the cheapest ZTE device that can work as the IDU.

On speeds and considering the sub limitations, there will be no difference. Some sources sha do say that Wi-Fi 6 consumes less battery and is more efficient all round.

I'm lucky to have ZTE MC801A, which is Wi-Fi 6 and compatible with the ZTE ODU. It's currently my IDU.

U can change your network if it in auto, u can put in in 4g or 5g and try all the band to know the fastest

I tested all the Bands and this was the result within a particular period (15mins tops):


Band 7 — 1.59 Mbps download — 8.55 Mbps upload

Band 3 — 22.7 Mbps download — 28.8 Mbps upload

Band 1 — 2.09 Mbps download — 28.5 Mbps upload

Band 8 — 0.03 Mbps download — 0.08 Mbps upload

Combining Bands led to deterioration so I locked to Band 3.

Currently have no issues.

You can lock to band 3 but remember to go through the bands again if you have a problem in the future.

I locked to Band 3 and also disabled 5G since there is no 5G in my location (Left it on 4G only) to avoid fruitless scanning for 5G.

Here is the speed range I am getting now at 12 AM (Not great compared to other people, but far better than what I used to get for my location). 👇🏾

Would have been better if you had the X25pro router. I dumped 2 of my odu. My X25pro is the most reliable router I’ve ever owned. And it has a longer WiFi range than the ODUs

I’m always surprised when I’m hearing about downtime in this place cos I hardly ever experience it.

I am truly impressed with the ZTE G5FA I got yesterday so far.

Lets hope after the tweaking, the results I am getting remains stable.

Wrong. It’s actually location dependent. Although Band 7 is generally the best (20MHz), in some areas, Band 3 is better.

I also think DL/UL speeds depend on the mostly used band in your location. The mostly used band will mostly have a lower DL speed.

There was a time the Band 7 in my location became terrible. Band 3 (+8 and sometimes +8+1) saved me during the period with good speeds because I got very strong reception.

Band 7 is back now and it doesn’t even aggregate but it’s way smoother and stable and 48+mbps. Band 3 still aggregates and gives me higher speeds but not as smooth as the B7 solo.

These were all with the same 5G band with good reception.

no I haven't used the Huawei yet and I'm not interested in anything ODU anymore, it's too bulky for my liking.

And Airtel isn't good in my area, no 5g and I get just 4 of 5 bars of reception on the 4g on x25pro.
I wanted to cry while using the ODU in my location, but the x25pro was reliable, stable and consistent with network reception.

Well, it might be that you got defective ODUs. If not, I don't get why X25pro performs better than premium modern devices like the ODUs in your place.

I've surpassed and it's still blazing, it still retains it's monthly 1tb FUP.

Pls, my ogas, what tweak can I do to this my 4g smart box, highest speed I've been getting for close to 3yrs now is 5mbps and it get worst I the afternoon to midnight. I have called cc countless time to that fact that I know some of their supervisors by name 😆. I'm tired, I'm even considering the latest one but just scared having to go back to same issue

forget Airtel, network is terrible at your location and there's nothing you can do about it

If it's not broken, don't fix it. He has good experience currently, so no need.

I have also tweaked in the past but have since left all bands and cells unlocked. I did an elaborate explanation of why I made that decision here.
