harsysky:Don't mind them. Has Zimbabwe recovered today over Mugabe's dumb and myopic act of chasing out white farmers when native Zimbabweans lacked requisite skills and expertise to engage in commercial agriculture as successfully as white farmers did? You dont cut your nose to spite your face. Only dumb people do that. |

WizardOfNG:He is not ignorant. He's following a template. The first things Europe and America hit with sanctions, after Russia invaded Ukraine, were Russian banks, businesses and Elite. That's why Abramovic had to let go of Chelsea. What South Africans are doing to Nigerians and their businesses is pure wickedness and for the president to have kept quiet for so long, is wrong. The Moment Oshiomhole made that statement, Mapharosa Condemned his people's actions. |

xjiggy:It would be easier, and far more effective, to cut off trade ties with SA till they accept our demands fully. Yet Nigerian politicians, because of vested interests, will never do that. Instead they will be sabre rattling and fooling Nigerians as usual talking of targeting MTN and DSTV. |

harsysky:That's the matter to be discussed on the floor of the Nigerian senate. Oshiomole was only making a proposal. So don't get it twisted. The final decision will be made by the Senate. If you have anything against this proposal, send your petition to the Nigerian senate. Stop quoting me. |

WizardOfNG:Chelsea football club had no hand in the war Russia waged with Ukraine but the British government freezed their assets and forced Abramovic to sell the club at a discount just because he's a Russian and was at one time a close associate of Putin. |

Relate your defence to what happened to the ownership of Chelsea Football Club with regards to his relationship with the president of a country. WizardOfNG: |

dotedote:Abramovich is a billionaire Oligarch made by Putin. Of course siezing his asset in the West will logically be seen as a way to prevent Putin's ability to move funds around, through his loyal cronies, that will then enable him to be more effective bullying Ukraine. Very different situation, i.e military aggression against Ukraine leading to war, in comparison to xenophobic attacks against Nigerians and their business interests in South Africa. |

The senator is absolutely right on this. The life of a Nigerian is more important than any economic gains. Nigeria can sanction or nationalise South Africa companies in the country if their government failed to condemn or prosecute xenophobic attacks on Nigerian and other black nationalities in their country. Rufai, you're not in a debate with Oshiemhole your job is to ask questions and allow your guests to respond accordingly. |

WizardOfNG:I disagree with the word lawless. Firstly, just one debate about it is enough to force the country to act which I believe the president spoke immediately after the discussion on the floor. Secondly, Nigeria did it in 1977 under indigenization decree. It will be discussed and the law will be passed. Several assets have been ceased in other countries |

harsysky:It is indeed a tricky thing. It is not something that is good to do. What I recommend is that the South Africa Government should make sure foreigner committing crimes are made to face the law under fair trial. But indiscriminate attacks on foreigners without holding the real culprits is not the answer, it only makes the matter worse. You won't see or hear Nigerians defending someone convicted of crime. |

Misterone:You kill those companies and you think any other foreign investor will dare invest in this very hostile economic environment? MTN paid over #870bn as taxes and levies in 2025. That's more than the entire SE contribution to the national purse by a factor of 20. Kill the companies and see if you will get any serious investor take her place. Nationalize MTN and see how it will die within 1yr due to massive corruption Hand it over to private Nigerian firms and see how they will exploit you to the last kobo without providing the commiserate service , pay the right tax your govt depends on and treat their workers like slaves. |
