Muslims don't drink water, eat or chew gum n mosques during their prayers...By so doing, they show by example how others should respect their religion and Prophet

If Christians choose not to respect their own Jesus by behaving anyhow in Church, then what basis do they have to demand such respect from others?

If these same Christians are before even a Local Government Chairman, they won't be eating, drinking and chewing gum in his presence undecided

I don't like Pastor Ibiyeomie, but but he is right on this one..
Baba, I can drink water in the mosque o.

The prayer time is just for few minutes unlike churches that take hours to complete their service
Doesn't matter

As long as it's worship time, decorum should be observed by the worshippers..

If you were to meet with President Tinubu in his office, will you start chewing gum even if the meeting lasts 7 hours?

Lol... I think the issue here is the lack of understanding of the context of the clergyman's statements.

Apart from the water part, the rest are just common sense worship etiquettes.

Will you be chewing gum when in a board meeting with the likes of Bill Gates, Elumelu, Dangote, Mark Cuban, Trump, etc?!!

Will you be focused on your phone or have it ringing out, or even taking calls while in such gatherings?!!
There's no problem with their rules. Leave all these Dangote talk out of it. If you know what it takes to manage a facility, you would not have a problem with it. Places that are carpeted are hard to clean once liquid pouts on the floor so they prevent it from happening. It's this same people that will say the place is smelling later. Many people behave anyhow in public so it's up to the owner of public spaces or where many people attend to set rules. Even in stadium, there are rules but people just want to behave like goats. If you come to my house and I tell you to remove your shoes, don't remove it angry

Did you go to sleep in church? If you don't want to attend the church, don't. There are some restaurants that don't allow mobile phones, I don't go there. There are some restaurants that use QR code, I don't go there because I like physical books. To each his own.
so if I am sleepy, I shouldn't do what makes me not to sleep?
Na wa o, even Jesus was not this controlling

chewing gum helps in sleeping.
If I am thirsty, I will drink water.

Also what if my bible is on my mobile phone
So without gum you cannot stay awake...?

Besides I saw the video... the post doesn't fully cover what the pastor said. He said they chew the gum and drop it carelessly after causing people to step on it and create a mess. He said some people gum it under their seats after chewing. It's that discipline?

Your Bible can be on your mobile phone he clearly was talking about those that use their phones for other purposes while the church service was ongoing. Stop making excuses for nonchalant attitude.

Do you know chewing gum is banned in some countries for these same reasons?

You are right... I mentioned that part due to the mentality of certain individuals who have such limited regard for woship centers but the same people will be all prim and proper when attending executive occasions.

Someone is teaching you simple discipline that could also apply in any serious public gathering, you are here crying over church. Church is not the cause of your misery.

The church will always be open and filled up. You can relocate from the planet.

There's no difference between APC and some churches in Nigeria. Some churches have replaced their members brains with tissue papers.

The worse is that 99% of members of this church will openly challenge you if you dare ask them not to obey this rule.

I have never for once seen this man as a genuine preacher and man called by God. Man is so full of himself, proud and arrogant.

Good. Maybe take a break and come back to your seat. In some schools, they ban the chewing of gum. What do you do when you feel sleepy in class? Some things are courtesy, some things are etiquettes but no be everything we mus do strong head for wink 🐐

It's like me insisting that because I smoke, no one can do anything about it, let me smoke to maintain focus. It's not everything we can do, we should do and it's not every rule we must find a fault in. Just excuse yourself from the congregation, simple.

I don't care man. Mature men and women no de go school de attend class? Or will you insist on taking water with you at the airport? Una go just wan argue for argument. The guy said don't take these things in the church, why will you think that has anything to do with sheeple? You've not had any solid point to counter the rule other than "I feel like it". And those who do that are usually children who think the world is all about them and they don't need any rules to regulate.

So how does this really work? In the morning you say feel free and be lively in the presence of God, then before noon you're ordering people to be disciplined in the presence of God. But then in the bible jesus fed thousands of people during a sermon.
I believe a lot of Christians have not really read the bible extensively and majority of Christians don't even understand the religion they're into.

There's nothing wrong with eating and drinking in the church and neither is there anything wrong with operating your device in church. It's not indiscipline, it is free will. You worship God the way you want to, as long as it's in truth and spirit.

What is bad about drinking water in church? Any time one gets the urge to drink water it's a sign that the body needs rehydration. Religion has made many people slaves.

I didn't even need to watch the video to know it was going to be about that. Many people like to argue for the sake of it. In real world, they are sitting ducks, online, they are keyboard warriors with the smartest and latest OS. Things have changed a lot. From 2000s, I think decency, etiquette and public behavior became a lost art.

Discipline refers to training that produces obedience, self-control, or order, often involving rules and, sometimes, punishment for violations. It encompasses both internal self-regulation (the ability to act in spite of distractions) and external regulation (enforced rules).

It is free will to not obey the rules by not attending. Don't you think so?

He is 100% right on this one.
Most Nigerians are not disciplined.
Unless on medical ground, it disgust me when I see people come to church with snacks and drinks for a church program thsts less than 3 hours.
Even of you're coming with a toddler, as long as the were fed before coming out, they should be able to hold on for 3 hours and this practice of coming to church with food is common amongst poor people (no disrespect intended).
As a Catholic, I know I won't stay in church for more than 3 hours.
Sometime last year, my family and I went to a church program and during prayer my husband and I go distracted for few minutes.
In less than 2 minutes i notice that my baby (a toddler) was holding cheese balls.
I asked the woman behind us and she confirmed that she was the one that gave her (i almost ran mad) when she said she gave my child snacks because first of all, you don't know the feeding program of a parent on their child so how dare you give my baby food without my permission.
Secondly, it shows how undiscipline you're as a parent if your child (if not sick) can't stay for 3 hours without putting something in their mouth and it even more disgusting if it's an adult that's eating in the church.
My baby was once crying and a woman asked me to go and buy her biscuits (she comes to church with snacks and carbonated drinks every Sunday) i no just answer am, pamper my pikin to stop cry.
This is because you really don't understand the religion yourself. There's absolutely nothing wrong in eating in church. I challenge you to show me one passage where people were told not to eat or drink in church. In fact, if we're going by the old testament, God himself ordered the Hebrews to eat, drink and enjoy themselves right in his presence. Jesus in the new testament fed thousands of people during a sermon, but here we have charlatans preaching false gospels to people who don't know there left and right.

When my Dubai pastor dey always sip him tea/coffee when preaching.

Members too get their own at the entrance, you can always go there at anytime for snacks and tea/coffee before, during and after the service.

I learned from the pastor that Christianity is not a do or die affairs, you'll love this man's preaching, gently but it enters the soul. Not this ones that'll be shouting like maad men wey if you mistakingly stay beside the speakers your ear don block be that.

Eating in the presence of God is not disrespect, neither is it a sin. Humans are just pilling on man-made laws and doctrines on people. Pastors will come to the pulpit with a bottle water and occasionally drink it to wet his throat but then tell the congregation to not drink or eat? That's hypocrisy
