Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has said that what Nigeria needs today is a wealth creator and manager like himself.

Mr Obi told MD/CEO of News Central Kayode Akintemi on the programme ‘60 Minutes with Kay’ aired on Thursday that no presidential aspirant, including President Bola Tinubu, can match his experience as a wealth creator.

He stated this in reaction to Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, former governor of Kano State, who said at Chatham House in London in 2023 that he had a PhD and was more qualified to be president than be Obi’s running mate. Kwankwaso was the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) at the time.

Both men have now joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), with Kwankwaso likely to become Obi’s running mate in 2027 after the party zoned the presidential ticket to the southern region where Obi comes from.

“Qualification is a perspective and it depends on where you’re coming from. He (Kwankwaso) said he was more qualified because he has a PhD which is not bad. I don’t have a PhD,” Obi said.

“He has some experience, he’s exposed. He was a minister. There’s no doubt about that. I don’t think his claim was wrong but for what Nigeria needs today, Nigeria needs a wealth creator, wealth manager.

“I have built reputable businesses from scratch locally and internationally. Nobody today in this context, including the president, can claim to have passed through my experience.”

Obi said in reaction to being tagged a “common trader” that trading and making money from it is one of the most difficult things to do else everyone would be a trader.

“What Nigeria needs today is somebody that creates wealth, not somebody who shares wealth, somebody who can manage resources more efficiently and save for the future,” he said.

What was he thinking? Kwankwaso is superior to him in all ramifications. He is a wealth creator yet he couldn't create the wealth for his brothers and sisters, who are tarnishing the name of the country in India and other Asian countries.

The title of this thread was a response Peter Obi gave to an interviewer at Chatham House UK that asked Peter Obi why he feels he would get more votes than Kwankwaso in 2023 and why he feels he is more qualified than Kwankwaso that have a PhD?

Peter Obi replied:

My brother Kwankwaso have a PhD while me Peter Obi is a wealth creator and a manager and I think Nigerians need a wealth creator and a manager right now cool

Which wealth did he create in Anambra. Is it the money he kept in his bank or the raw cash that was discovered in his car bóot at Osborn foreshore estate.
It would have been better if this packaged fraud talk less and focus on presenting his manifestoes to populace.

Have you been to Anambra in your life. It is sad how people condem someone without verification. Obi transformed Anambra in every sector when he was governor. Do you think being governor for eight years is sufficient to make Anambra to become Ney York?

All you OK vuvuzelas, does this sound like something you say in public about the person who is going to deputize you?

And what wealth creation is he talking about? Except he is hiding his other businesses and companies, his NEXT importation business is a net negative to the economy. Na him dey shout consumption to production but Nigerians don't know any of his production companies except him being the top importer of many foreign products in Nigeria markets.

He has talked so much about cloth production in Bangladesh, rice production in Indonesia but he does not have any rice farm or rice mill or cloth & shoe manufacturing company here in Nigeria.

Tinubu simply distributed N800bn in LNG funds to APC governors like a gift, just like that. And to our usually loud “progressives,” this is apparently normal. It helps when your name is not President Umoru, but President Bola.

This hypocrisy will become even more obvious when a Nigerian who is not of Yoruba heritage becomes president. The South West media will scream murder, civil society groups will suddenly rediscover their voices, and the “progressives” will resume operations overnight.
