Without the stern warning from Xi, Trump should already know Taiwan belonged to China. Reunification is inevitable and there's nothing USA can do about it. USA cannot afford to go against China - they won't be able to deal with that much power.

Not really. The reason why America is interested in Taiwan / China issue is coz of TSMC. America doesnt want China to control major global chip manufacturing.

But US is thin with Patriots and other missile defense batteries now. They have exhausted about 50% of their stock piles on Iran war. The total sum is a combination of Israel, Saudi, UAE, and Qatar's stock.

Yes US surely still have abundant offensive missiles but quite thin on defensive weapons.

And it's basically China that controls rare-earths, a major component for remanufacturing those things.

More so, if Iran can stretch US this much with their bunkers, China is a totally different ball game.

Trump knows he can't fight China now, bearing in mind that he does not even have usual support of allies.

That's why he has been playing a gentleman game beside President Xi.

Every action of a leader has distinct consequences.
