Lagos, Nigeria – A council of Yoruba elders has declared that the 2027 presidency belongs to the South East, insisting that Peter Obi should be Nigeria’s next president. In a communique issued after a closed-door meeting in Ibadan, the elders stated that fairness and power rotation demand that the Igbo produce the president in 2027 after years of marginalization. “Tinubu, it is not your turn in 2027 but Peter Obi’s turn to be president of Nigeria,” the communique read. “The Yoruba have had their opportunity. Let the Igbos have the Nigeria presidency now.” The elders warned that any attempt to split the Nigerians votes in Nigeria and in the South West would weaken the peter obi’s chances of producing a president and undermine national equity. They called on President Bola Tinubu to step aside and support Peter Obi’s candidacy to prevent division within the region and across the country. The group said the unity of the South depends on backing a single candidate from the South East, and urged Yoruba political leaders, traditional rulers, and voters to rally behind Obi. “Let Igbos have the Nigeria presidency in 2027.
