A prominent Niger Delta militant leader has issued a strong warning to the Federal Government, declaring that any attempt to deny the Southeast the opportunity to produce Nigeria’s president in 2027 could trigger massive unrest across parts of the country.

Speaking during a gathering of regional youth groups in the Niger Delta, the militant leader accused the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of allegedly marginalizing Igbos and southeastern Nigerians in key political appointments, infrastructure development, and national decision-making.

According to him, the continued exclusion of the Southeast from the nation’s highest political office threatens national unity and deepens feelings of injustice among millions of Nigerians from the region.
“We cannot continue to pretend that the Igbo people do not deserve equal treatment in Nigeria. If the Southeast is denied the presidency again in 2027, there will be serious resistance against this government. The marginalization must stop,” he declared.

The militant leader stressed that the agitation is not about division but about fairness, equity, and justice within the Nigerian federation. He warned that youths in the Niger Delta and parts of the Southeast are becoming increasingly frustrated over what they described as political imbalance and economic neglect.
He further called on political parties, northern leaders, and other stakeholders to support an Igbo presidential candidate in the interest of peace and national stability.
