YORUBA ELDERS CLASH WITH TINUBU OVER 2027 PRESIDENCY PLANS

_“It is unjust to snatch what belongs to the South East” – Elders warn President not to betray equity_

A storm is brewing within the Yoruba political establishment as prominent Yoruba elders have openly clashed with President Bola Tinubu over alleged plans to block the South East from producing Nigeria’s president in 2027.

The elders, under the banner of the Yoruba Patriots Forum, accused the presidency of plotting to undermine equity and deny Igbos their turn at the presidency, calling the move a betrayal of Nigeria’s unwritten power-sharing agreement.

“God is great, and He sees injustice,” the group’s spokesperson declared at a press briefing in Ibadan. “Yoruba elders will not keep quiet while anyone tries to snatch the presidency from the Igbos in 2027. It is their turn, and justice demands that we stand with them.”

The elders argued that Nigeria’s stability depends on fairness, and that any attempt to manipulate the process against the South East would deepen national division. They said the Yoruba people, who have produced presidents and heads of state multiple times, have no moral ground to stand in the way of the South East.

“We cannot preach fairness and practice exclusion. Yoruba is not built on betrayal. If we allow this presidency to be stolen from the Igbos, we are planting a seed of hatred that will haunt Nigeria for generations,” the statement read.

The group warned that pushing Igbos to the wall politically would have consequences, urging Tinubu to act as a statesman rather than a regional partisan.

“The presidency belongs to all Nigerians, not one man or one region. Tinubu should remember that power is transient, but history is forever. He will be judged by whether he chose equity or selfish ambition,” the elders said.

The development signals growing unease across ethnic lines over the direction of 2027 politics, with many Nigerians saying the South East’s demand for the presidency is long overdue.

Tinubu will fail those time because before tinubu will snatch Nigeria presidency from igbos, igbos stop them immediately.
