Why does Nigeria need a revolution?

@domPerignon makes the case about outcome of revolutions always benefiting a few while @nairalanda1 makes a strong argument regarding capitalism with strong regulations. In all the submissions made, both users failed to acknowledge one important factor that makes a revolution inevitable. When there is sustained pervasive injustice, pain and oppression orchestrated by seat tight undemocratic leaders against their own people, there can be no reprieve, freedom or genuine progress without a deliberate effort by the people to end the reign of such leaders. In my opinion, Nigeria crossed the threshold of a failed state during Buhari's government, ripe for a people back revolution that would've paved the way for a reset through a national referendum but Nigerians preferred to repeat the same mistake they have always made since 1999, thinking that voting in another politician every 4 years will some how turn around their fortune. @domperignon and @nairalanda1 submissions also failed to acknowledge the fact that Nigeria is only a country on paper, it is not a nation of a united people. The 1999 patched up constitution that had no direct input from the people in its creation but continues to exist till this day remains a true testament of the injustice and fraudulent foundation that Nigeria operates on. I know that many people reading this, may view a revolution as being a violent campaign but in reality that is not always the case. You revolt to send a message of your displeasure over the actions of your oppressors. In some cases, some oppressors won't need brutal force to stop while others will need sustained mass disobedience to yield, it all depends on how far as a people Nigerians are willing to go to gain their freedom.

Nigeria will need a revolution because those in power are too selfish and hardened to let go of the status quo that they have enjoyed for so long, Nigeria's unity must be renegotiated for the people to be free and these hardened politicial leeches will need to go for that to happen. Unless a revolution that will pave the way for a national referendum happens, Nigerians will remain victims of a 1999 constitutional injustice that only promotes hateful tribalism, division, toxicity, retrogression, corruption and bad leadership. All indigenous people will remain endangered species to a Fulani Islamic bloody conquest that seeks to erase them over their ancestral land....

For those hoping on Peter Obi or any other candidate as the messiah to fix Nigeria.... 2027 presidential election outcome will not solve Nigeria's problem because who ever emerges is bound to uphold a fraudulent constitution. He is bound to safeguard the injustice of Nigeria's cosmetic unity.....

2027 can be an electoral revolution, if it's successful across the legislature too.

I respect Nnamdi Kanu, IMO he remains the only true saviour Nigerians had but they rejected him, ridiculed him, supported his imprisonment and instead chose to glorify fake political messiah like Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso who are desperate to fulfill their political ambitions, who will not make genuine sacrifices to liberate them from the contraption..... There is no electoral revolution as long as those organizing and participating in the election are your oppressors. If you and many other Nigerians are serious, you need to start now to demand for your freedom.....

Who will lead the new government after the revolution?

Any Successful revolution must start from the North then South to support beyond that forget.

A successful revolution in Nigeria will be the one that starts from the south and not the north because the southern region is the target, the southern indigenous people who are mostly Christians need it more than the fulani dominated Islamic northern region....

Igbo man, go and start your revolution by removing Abaribe. He is a Senator from Kanu's state and has been so for almost 2 decades now with nothing to show.

Nigeria must stop being afraid of Bola Tinubu.

Look at him carefully. Listen to him speak. Strip away the money, the security convoys, the propaganda machinery and the fear that surrounds him. What do you really see? A frail old man clinging to power through money, patronage and intimidation. Nothing more.

No nation of over 220 million people should tremble before one politician. Nigeria is bigger than any man. Stronger than any political machine. More important than any billionaire network built on influence, fear and backroom deals.

What disgusts me most is not even Bola Tinubu himself. It is the cowardice of the Nigerian establishment around him. The DSS. The NSA. Senior officials sworn to defend the Nigerian state and constitution now behaving like political servants to one man. History will judge them harshly for whatever unlawful intimidation, harassment, torture or abuse has been carried out in defence of political power.

This is not military rule. Tinubu never served in the Nigerian military. He did not fight for Nigeria. He did not even complete National Youth Service. Yet the entire machinery of state bends itself around him as if he is untouchable.

Enough is enough.

Nigerians must stop transferring their fear onto those of us who speak openly. I, Kio Amachree, do not fear powerful men. Powerful men fear exposure. They fear truth. They fear history. They fear the day ordinary Nigerians stop being intimidated by wealth and political theatre.

A nation cannot survive permanently governed by fear, tribal manipulation, money politics and institutional silence.

Who will head the nation referendum committee?

Hmmmm, do you expect me to tell you who will head referendum committee? How do communities in your LGA pick each village head? If a national committee is needed towards implementing a national referendum then each region will decide on the modalities and pick committee members. No one can unilaterally impose who will head such a committee.....

People say things they don't understand. Revolution have leaders. It is the leaders of the revolution that leads the new government.

Nigeria doesn't need revolution, they need entertainments, 5kg of rice and road promise.

Remove anything revolution from the agenda of present Nigerians.

You cannot get a leader without a follower.... It is those who will follow that decides who leads.... A revolution happens because people choose to revolt, it does not necessarily need a leader to be successful.... As I said earlier, no one can unilaterally impose who leads such a referendum committee without the backing of the people...
