Watching president Tinubu talking heh, if you asked him questions, his answers must come up with references which might be apart but if you linked them together, they are just 1

Just like the pregnant woman, there is always smile after the baby is out even though she might have gone through the labour pain for months
Normally you're not a wise person. Are the leaders not Nigerians? Why aren't they also undergoing same hardship?

I know say u go block me but like I said b4, I no send ur papa. Make I advise u. Go tell Seun make eh make the block button 600yrs instead of 3 week.

Cuz I can feel how daunting it must be for u blocking me every three weeks. Must be really tiring.

Though he didn't say it that way, but it's true all over.
Must he say it exactly that way for the meaning to be that? This is a basic intellectual deduction

if your father tells you that his house can no longer contain both of you, must he explicitly tell you to leave his house for you to understand?

If the pregnant woman is passing through these travails chiefly caused by her husband yet this husband becomes carefree of her plight.

How do you think she'd feel.

We told you people to not vote this man that year but you wouldn’t listen . Now it’s another opportunity to remove him but you will not open your eye and ear again. You will still use your pvc to vote him and double your shege and this time he will mandate you to tax by force . By the time your eye come out of your head because of hunger you go wise .

Everyone pays taxes, whether you like it or not...!

You pay taxes directly or indirectly:

1. Direct deductions from your salaries (public or private) to state revenue services and FIRS.
2. Charges on bank transfers, airtime and data recharge, monthly service charges, etc.
3.VAT, each time you enter a supermarket, market, or pay for services.
Etc.
Yet this animal is talking about people not paying tax. The ones paid, how far. Useless leader

Tinubu government removed fuel subsidy, earns more from crude oil and gas sales, has borrowed more than any government of Nigeria, has impoverished Nigerians more than any government of Nigeria in history,

yet Tinubu is asking for taxes from Nigerians, is telling Nigerians that without their taxes, there will be no development in Nigeria.
This is outrageous.
Re: Tinubu To Nigerians: You Must Pay Taxes If You Want Development by Atlantis585: 2:22pm On May 17
Can you show us how much taxes you have paid over the years?

And you will still borrow billions after.

And all the above accounts for 20-30% of government funding per annum. Most of the rest comes from oil revenue.

VAT raised 7.9 trillion in 2025...bank charges, etc raised less than 4 trillion for a budget that needed 54 trillion naira. As for PAYE...lol. Only 44% (government figures), 30% (world bank figures)..and at the begining of the Buhari regime it was 16% of tax eligible Nigerians pay tax to the government

Most of the country work in the informal sector, who don't pay tax to government, be it at federal or even state level.

Nigeria is undertaxed. Part of it is poverty, part of it is the idea that the oil money...which on a good day can't pass 80 billion dollars...talkless more than 100 billion, can somehow magically sustain us, that all we need to do is block leakages. Well, I beileve we should fight corruption, but if we voted Obi tomorrow, and he ended corruption next week, the leakages being stopped won't improve our fiscal life at all.

And thus, we borrow and borrow and borrow.

My friend. The easiest way to open wallets is to sell a good product and meet or surpass the expectations of the buyers.

There is no substitute for good governance. Serve the people. Listen to them. Do what THEY want FIRST. It is not hard. But the way of the transgressor is HARD.

On this forum alone how many times have you heard citizens scream, shout, lament, swear about the power situation as a classic example. If you as a government made that a key priority to ANSWER the calls of the people and they see active steps taken then you can bil them and they will pay.

But no. It is new superhighways that is your KEY INFRASTRUCTURE and you want them to pay for that and still be buying solar and expensive fuel. Abeg, who dey blind government to what is clear as daylight. Na curse?

We have a spending curse hanging over our heads.

Votes alone can't do that if Nigerians can't secure it.

They will change everything through INEC

Dem dey even defend taking taxes for installation of solar system. Dem for ask for tax for owning generator too, make we know say it is finished.

All the subsidy funds he claimed would be saved, we never see, yet the borrowing has increased.

Supporters of Nigerian politicians are either being paid or are total morons.

I am not here to defend tinubu, but in 2025 , for example, the baseline oil price was 75 dollars per barrel for the budget, which was what government was expecting. (a SIMPLE google check would have led them to analysts predicitng that oil would be below 65 dollars per barrel for the year, but lol.)

Actual oil prices for the year was between 55-65 dollars per barrel...

Result...borrowing. (AND even at 75 dollars per barrel, Nigeria was going to have to borrow money.).

Same issue in 2024, and 2023. Same issue for most of Buhari's government, to the point that he was printing money massively to borrow.

Even under GEJ, when oil prices were high, GEJ was massively borrowing, because we needed oil at a breakeven of 122 dollars per barrel...and oil was for the most part 10 dollars below that.

That is why everyone is talking about taxes. Because even with high oil prices now thanks to the war, it is going to take time to reflect in our account. Add the fact that we got to pay off debts from 2009, onwards, and the worsening condtion under Buhari where oil prices were so low twice...especially during covid when oil was below 30 dollars per barrel for MONTHS ON END (which meant more and more borrowing, plus we was paying for subsidy).....

On the tax thing...tax uptake is less than 40 % of taxable nigerians. Tax to gdp is at 14%, maybe lower. (Poorer countries like Niger have higher tax to gdp.)

Like I said, this is no defence of tinubu, but an explanation as to why we borrow, and why taxes are being promoted. It all boils down to the fact that our economy is oil dependent.(One can explain why we borrow without supproting the government. One can walk and chew gum at the same time).

If we remove tinubu tomorrow, and I wish we did, the same issue will still be here, so in the short term, taxation for all, long term diversification and industrialziation.

Bro, every nation starts somewhere... Progress doesn't happen in a day.

Improving or increasing taxes without fullproof anti-corruption leadership that is transparent will lead to full on resistance.

The poor will happily pay taxes if they know there is accountability.

Every dime paid in taxes can be easily accounted for by an average citizen... That has NEVER happened in Nigeria.

So, you can't be asking for support and cooperation from citizens when you are not ready to be TRANSPARENT in your leadership.
