Nigerian Prison Food Video Sparks Outrage

A viral video showing inmates in a Nigerian correctional facility sharing a small portion of watery beans has sparked debate over prison conditions and inmate welfare. In the clip, one inmate describes the meal as the only food available for the day.

The conversation intensified after another video surfaced of a 17-year-old detainee who has reportedly spent three years at Kirikiri Medium Facility following his arrest at age 14. His case has allegedly faced repeated adjournments due to judicial delays.

Let's not forget. How much did the APC say they spend on a prisoner daily? They spend 1,125 naira daily to feed each prisoner. My people what can that amount buy for you outside? Has it even bought your breakfast?

In everything you do, avoid any trouble that will make you see the four walls of a Nigerian prison.

Now, the young man in that video was sent to the kirikiri prison at the age of 14. He is 17 now. He is still very much a minor. What is a minor doing in prison for crying out loud? Imagine how useful Seyi Tinubu would have been to himself and his father, the level of goodwill he would have generated if he had made decongestion of prisons a pet project of sorts. Sadly such thoughts will never cross his mind.

Prison is now on the concurrent list, I wander when the State Governments will start building and running their own Prison service

Stay away from trouble, don't walk late at night to avoid stories that touch the heart.
Re: Nigerian Prison Food Video Sparks Outrage by Godfullsam(m): 3:24pm On May 17
Wait o shocked

Are prisoners supposed to enjoy delicious and sumptuous meals?

Many of them in the prison don't even deserve to be breathing, going by the level of crime they committed.

Imagine a murderer being fed in the prison and you expect him to enjoy the meal. As how na undecided
Normal normal, any murderer, bandit, boko haram mamber, kidnapper, corrupt politicians etc should be killed instantly. No point feeding them with tax payers money.

I only sympathise with those who are in the prison for a crime they didn't commit.

How will Seyi a private citizen decongest the prisons.
Only a governor and president can grant pardons.
The Lagos state government already has the office of the public defender and I know for sure that the office is functioning and providing legal services for those who can't afford it.

The question you should be asking is "what crime he actually committed" .
When you walk into a prison every one in there claims they are innocent
Should we just release people because they say they are innocent?
Should be boy just be released because he said he is innocent?
Have you been robbed by these children at night in Lagos before? They are between 12 and 18.
I saw some attack a guy at the speed bumps in front of Toyota, behind House on the rock off Kunsela road last year. They were about 10 of them.
Anyone of them arrested would tell you they are innocent.

I am not disputing the fact that we have a lot of innocent people in prisons today, but that's not the responsibility of Seyi.
That's the job of the Judiciary

Note: News reports like these should be shared around to teens and youths, parents should send this to their children.
This is one of the many things that can happen when you keep bad company or/and engage in crime.

People outside can barely feed. Why should a prisoner be so concerned about food. Did they work and pay tax?

But Mr. President did when he gave presidential pardons to drug dealers, murderers and husband killers.

Why would a minor be in prison for that long?

Even then, the guy you quoted is right. He should be in a juvenile detention center, or Borstal as they used to call them (last i checked, we had 2 borstals in Nigeria , just 2, very inadequate)...not main prision...because once they release him in one of these mass prisoner releases they do , he will come out an even more hardened criminal.

Prisons the world over aren’t nice places. Only the Netherlands gives human rights in prison. Many countries refuse to adopt the standard because human perception requires the government to punish offenders. How would someone feel to hear that kidnappers and terrorists are being fed three times a day by professional cooks?

Yesterday at about 8.30 pm I witnessed a pos operator being robbed at gun point.

I know it is people like u that advocate for those armed criminals to be treated with 4 stars hotel reception when they are eventually apprehended?

Seyi Tinubu indeed.

From what's happening around the world, it just seems like the black man cannot govern himself to communal prosperity, this seems to be a fact that we must dispute with commitment to change things starting with Nigeria the most populous black nation on earth because once Nigeria gets it right, the entire black race will be liberated from the shackles of mediocre and collective disgrace.

Ask yourself, how many black nations without White people or White population are doing well to the extent of being classified as a developed nation?

Every other race have one or two nations that is representing them in the global development and power play, only the black race is missing and this is why we are begging Nigerians to give Peter Obi a chance in 2027, let us start the sincere and committed journey of rewriting Nigeria's history through laying some foundations upon which Nigeria's communal prosperity not individual prosperity will begin. Mind you, I am not saying that Peter Obi will transform Nigeria overnight, no, but within 4 years, Peter Obi will sincere lead Nigeria to collective light by sincerely laying some basic foundations that will reposition Nigeria for greatness. The situation of Nigeria today where people celebrate their individual prosperity or their region's prosperity alone is absurd, we need to win and celebrate together as a nation and not individually or regionally, and that is the only time we can say that truly Nigeria is prosperous. Yes we can be individually prosperous, but until our nation Nigeria or the black race gets it right when it comes to leadership and national development, no matter how rich you are or become as a black man or woman, you will never be respected in the world.

The current President Bola Tinubu cannot lead Nigeria to that light we all desire. He has done his best that is within his capabilities, let's not overstretch him, one cannot do more than they can do in life, Tinubu have done his best and his best is not good enough so let's try a new hand and see and if that one fail, we try another until God helping us we get it right instead of continuing on the path of failure and corruption just because it is from our tribesman, we are only shortchanging our future and that of our unborn children thinking we are doing the other people.

Take a look at the condition of our inmates, some of these inmates are even innocent or victims of being at the wrong place at the wrong time, but take a look at their condition. It could be you or me, or could be any of our loved ones or relative or even close friends.

A word is enough for the wise, God bless us all cool

"repentant terrorists" live and feed better than an average Nigerian how more prisoners, there was even a time "repentant terrorists" were insisting they wanted to be killing their daily allocation of cattle themselves to avoid "unbelievers from touching them💔💔💔😡.

That's an old video, but not really surprising. If those with freedom have been left for dead by the incompetent and corrupt government, convicts would be subhuman in their eyes.

Prison is a capital project, building and running, that does not return any or just little gains.

Only Lagos, Kano and Rivers can dabble intp such venture without regrets
