Although I understand where you are coming from, but what happened is that politics played a role in the appointment, Ihejirika being the first Igbo man since 1966 to hold that highest military office, achieved a lot of success in fighting insurgency, but the north east sympathetic to Boko Haram due to their affiliation in Islam cooked up a dangerous propaganda against Jonathan and Ihejirika, they said that Ihejirika as an Igbo man was avenging the 1966 pogroms against the Igbos. A former governor of Adamawa state in 2013 made that assertion, and they hired an Australian lobbyist to tarnish Ihejirika reputation. the momentum grew against Ihejirika and GEJ had no choice to retire him. Now they same propagandist are now paying the price
