The one that my brother bought last time was around 1m corolla LE.

Just go to Jiji to compare prices. Call the sellers on phone to negotiate and if you are okay with it go to their shop to verify and take your mechanic along.

Tell a trusted mechanic to buy for you. It's better he cheats you 50-100k than for you to go and buy a bad engine by yourself

With the global high demand and under-supply for that model, Are there still original and untampered corolla engines and gearbox in markets? How will the mechanic or buyer know it's not reworked in Nigeria?

Why did you say so, because he suggested jiji... I have ordered car parts for my Ford on jiji before. The thing is that majority of those at Ladipo, Owode etc are the people placing advert on jiji, this is based on personal experience.

I feel your number one point of comparism should be fuel economy.
If you have ever used a V6 Engine, which are exclusively the types Avalon is made of, and you consider the fact that fuel is very expensive in nowadays economy, then you wouldn't even be here asking for a second opinion before going for camary.
Toyota Camry, especially the later versions, has everything you can find in Avalon.
Avalon is good car no doubt, but you will spend a fortune to fuel it

if mechanic can't give you correct engine bro...just have a trusted someone who are into spare parts inside market...he will give you exactly what you want...they can't give you what is not good because they are inside market....if anything wrong they will correct it...there's rules inside market

I will advise you to get a mechanic that has credibility with Ladipo dealers, they will bring the engine to the mechanic to fix and payment made after fixing and mechanic confirm it OK.

When you are buying make sure you go with a good mechanic because those people from that side will pour water inside a dead engine and run it for you.

So, be very careful when engine shopping at Ladipo. You really need to know what you're doing to avoid paying for somebody's by gone suffering, a lemon. Look for an imported engine, not a used one from Nigeria. Insist on confirmed milage, and know your car engine's OEM number in advance.

Allow yourself plenty of time and don't let yourself be talked into buying a dud engine, even if the seller tries to hoodwink you.

Lastly, dress appropriately. You will get dirty, really dirty!.
