How is ASUU staff's welfare compared to obasanjo's era?

Many of those staff have given up to fate. And too tired to voice their frustrations! everyone is tired of this country even Labour is tired of protest.

I wonder why you people practice this absurd politics of absolutism, which is to say once you are for A you can see no wrong in A, and once you are against B, you can see nothing right in B. You should be able to praise the good and condemn the bad!

Gej used our fx reserve to subsidy petrol.
He didn't have any legacy project to his name for six years

Tinubu has Nelfund
Tinubu has Lagos Calabar coastal
Tinubu has sokoto Badagry road
No more strike
Lg autonomy
Why is Tinubu borrowing more than Jonathan and other PDP presidents who gave us cheap petrol and widespread prosperity instead of APC’s extreme poverty and insecurity shege?

How many pictures of incomplete Tinubu and APC legacy projects are you using to pay the subsidy forced on you by the massive corruption in their oil sector since 2015?

anonimi:
Petrol should never cost more than N70 per litre, says APC

January 19, 2015

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as mere tokenism the reduction of petrol price from N97 to N87 per litre, saying the petroleum product ordinarily should sell for N70.

On Sunday, the federal government announced the reduction of petrol price, citing the fall of global crude oil price.

But the APC through Lai Mohammed, its spokesman, on Monday accused the government of making a show out of deceit, saying “a 10.3 per cent slash in the price of petrol was a mere tokenism at a time the price of crude oil has crashed by about 60 per cent”.

It argued that the pump price of a litre of petrol should not be more than 70 Naira, alleging that at N87 per litre, the government was forcing Nigerians to subsidise the massive corruption in the oil sector by N17 for every litre of fuel.

Which Buhari. Buhari was the worst thing that happened to ASUU. Don't even go there.
HelipsTech:
Mr Op, ASUU strikes base on failure of government to fulfil agreements. Tinubu only enjoying the results of the struggle during Buhari regime.

Buhari fulfilled 90% of the 2007 agreements, and the exclusion of ASUU from IPPIS, which was a major disagreement at the time.
So say something else.

How about the health sector? What can you say about the strike in Tinubu govt

ASUU strike durations by administration:

🔴 Obasanjo (1999–2007) — 18 months
🔴 Yar’Adua (2007–2010) — 4 months
🔴 Jonathan (2010–2015) — 13 months
🔵 Buhari (2015–2023) — 21 months
🔵 Tinubu (2023–present) — 9 days

Buhari recorded 21 months of strikes during his eight-year tenure — the highest total since the return to democracy in 1999.

So far, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has recorded only 9 days of nationwide strike action as of May 2026.

Predictor3:
Is it not rubbish to say the reason lecturers are not striking is because they're hungry? Does that make any sense? Lecturers are actually gainfully employed and receive their salaries every month. Some of them have access to travel around the world on all kinds of educational grants. This is more than you can say for most Nigerians at this time. If they were hungry, would they not down tools? Tinubu has not done well but we should criticize meaningfully. We are not kids anymore.

Good evening
Calling what I said “rubbish” is overreaction...

And overly simplistic.

First of all “lecturers are not striking because they are not hungry” is not meant to be a literal hunger claim.

It’s shorthand for economic pressure and welfare dissatisfaction not whether they have food on the table that morning.

Strikes in universities are rarely about immediate starvation but about relative deprivation, salary erosion, unpaid entitlements, funding of institutions, and working conditions.

Yes lecturers are formally employed. Yes, they receive salaries. But that doesn’t automatically mean their compensation is competitive or sustainable especially in an environment where salaries lose value due to inflation, allowances and agreements are delayed or not implemented or infrastructure/work conditions deteriorate.

Access to grants or occasional travel is not a substitute for systemic welfare.

That’s like saying a hospital nurse is “fine” because they once attended a foreign conference.

Secondly, your framing misses how strikes actually work. People don’t “down tools” only when they are desperate. They strike when
negotiation breaks down, leverage is available and collective action is the only remaining pressure tool.

ASUU strikes historically have been about agreements not implemented over years not sudden hunger.

If you want to criticize meaningfully then critique the actual issues which are inflation, erosion of salaries and institutional decay.

Don't simplify my comment into hungry or not hungry

Flowers for sitting idly while Islamic terrorists overrun our communities, kidnapping and killing at will? You saw that teacher that just got beheaded?
And you mean the man who hiked students school fees that the poor can't get education deserves flowers? You think those denied education should give him flowers?

Students loan and stipend to support the poor has never happened in all previous administration. Meanwhile, mark it, that loans will be automatic employment opportunities in FG projects so as to pay back. Otherwise bad debt. No be Today.

Almost every politician in Nigeria has a reason to hate Peter Obi.

How do you expect them to like someone that wants to come and reduce their rascality and block the source of their ill-gotten wealth?

How do you expect them to like someone that will stop the sharing and distribution of bags of money?

How do you expect them to like someone that will stop them from changing their bulletproof Prado SUVs every year?

How do you expect them to like someone that will ask them what they are doing with more than two cars?

How do you expect them to like someone that will not give them wardrobe and furniture allowance every year?

How do you expect them to like someone that will not allow them to employ a dozen domestic staff at the expense of the taxpayers money?

How do you expect them to like someone that will not allow them to use police to take over people’s properties?

How do you expect them to like someone that will tell them the government does not have money to buy any mansion for anybody?

How do you expect them to like someone that will not allocate public lands to private individuals?

How do you expect them to like someone that will carry calculator and ask you to explain how you used 100 billion to renovate a local airport runway?

How do you expect them to like someone that will have meetings with contractors to explain with proof the cost of every project?

How do you expect them to like someone that will end kickbacks and demand receipt for every pen?

How do you expect them to like someone that will end the unconstitutional state sponsored office of the First Lady and first son?

How do you expect them to like someone that they cannot blackmail with any past or present corrupt dealings because there’s none anywhere?

How do you expect them to like someone that will not endorse the oil smuggling business that keeps enriching a selected cabals?

How do you expect them to like someone that will restructure and invest heavily on education to open the eyes of their puppets?

How do you expect them to like someone that will revamp and remove terrorists and their sponsors from our security agencies and end the long lasting blood money industry?

See, there’s just so many reasons to hate HE Mr. Peter Obi. In a land of goats governed by insatiable wolves. The wolves will desperately fight against the election of a hunter.

HE Peter Obi is the dream of every suffering Nigerian and the nightmare of every beneficiary of political corrupt system.

He tried by decentralizing Military depot 👏👏
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s effort decentralize military infrastructure and training from being concentrated mainly in the North.
Osogbo depot was established around 2025 and later additional expansion plans were approved for Abakaliki too.
He really tried on that one 👏, kudos to him 👏 🙌 👌

Like the nelfund is not beneficial to students? So you tell us what is more beneficial to students apart from the fact that their lecturers are being paid as at when due even backlog of owed dues based on agreements that ended most of those strikes at the time but were not paid by those governments, yet President Tinubu has paid and then gives loans to students that you and i know might not be repaid in full or in part by those students yet he is giving the loans to students.

Honesty is the best policy bro...
When someone does well say he does well because doing that gives more value to your criticism later when you find them because nobody is perfect.
