...and will create more problem for himself because he will now be under close scrutiny.
MyExpression:
Wike has ruthlessly dealt with Fubara's disloyalty.

This new law might stabilize our politics, but it will lead to party godfatherism.

—what will a sitting governor who lost return ticket do with the remaining time in office- with full executive authority?

You've made him ticketless and by the new electoral law, transfer window is closed.
Fubara will loot River state silly - as his last act of power, to secure his personal future.

Nobody should blame Fubara, blame Tinubu.

Fubara had almost defeated Wike before Tinubu removed him with emergency rule.

In Nigeria, its not easy to fight with the President, a ruthless, shameless President ready to tumble in the mud just to win political battles.

Tinubu defeated Fubara not Wike.

What Fubara and other aggrieved APC big wig politicians should do now is to silently fight back by making sure Tinubu doesn't win 2027 Presidential election so that they can take their own pound of flesh on him secretly.

Fubara should back an opposition candidate in all Rivers State election secretly and make sure APC doesn't win.

But unfortunately, Tinubu uses both spiritual spell and federal government institutions to fight, all these APC losers will still be deceived with a promise of political appointment on the condition that they must help APC and Tinubu rig and win in their respective states, constituencies and wards, and they will foolishly agree.

They failed to learn from all former loyal Tinubu's political stooges and allies like:

Fashola
Aregbesola
Ambode
El Rufai that helped Tinubu win 2023
Kashim Shettima the Vice President
Nuhu Ribadu who has been sidelined silently
Sanwo-Olu who is like a cow waiting for his slaughter day cheesy
etc, etc

Tinubu that is a master in use-and-dump. He only keeps you if you have his dirty boxers with you like Wike and few others.

Una eyes go open wider should you guys sleep and Tinubu succeeds in rigging himself back into office in 2027. Many Nigerians go run comot for Nigeria
They have started misleading him again.

If he takes your advise and Tinubu eventually wins re-election I hope you will be the one taking food to him in EFCC detention cell cos he will definitely be picked up

I’m disappointed in Fubara for withdrawing from the Rivers APC governorship primary.

He should have considered his followers and the development of Rivers State. Why make a decision that will destroy the destinies of the people who stood by you?

If you weren’t ready to defend the people who risked their lives for you, you shouldn’t have started the fight in the first place.

What now happened to people who risked their lives for you ?

Why the abandoning campaigners, ward coordinators, and grassroots members who invested time, money, and reputation with nothing to show for it.

At this stage, please kindly resign

I’m really disappointed.
All these political amateurs una go just dey talk cho cho cho.

Na so una use cho cho cho push am into fight with person wey pass am by far!

Fubara has been outgunned and out manned, if you were in his position you too would withdraw.

Saladdin:
His political career is completely finished. Na true SIMP this man be. This is what indecision cost him. He had to two options: fight to the finish or quietly do your "yes sir, yes sir" and complete your eight years. Political fights are all or nothing, you don't do half-measure.

Duncan Mighty's music career too is gone. He should forget any singing gig from the state government again. Doing useless praise singing for a weak man. You see how Wike pampers his praise singers, they most likely even followed him to Abuja singing Nye demba, Nye demba for him.

If you wanted to fight your godfather (which was a bad decision anyway), you ought to have gone for the jugular, but you went halfway and backtracked. A very foolish move!

That was weakness and Wike smelt it. Dem no dey us clear eyes fight for village square. Wike is a very formidable and powerful politician & godfather with a well-oiled machinery that can easily bring down this governor. He knows where and how to pull the strings. When Fubara knows he can't fight, he ought to have piped low, because those elders who crafted the quote that when you dine with the devil, you use a long spoon. They came to that painful realization after lots of hard knocks.

On the other hand, you Fubara had one of the largest and deepest war chest in Nigeria. For God's sake, only Lagos, Delta and maybe Kano comes close to what this man has when it comes to state fund. This singular reason plus Wike's ruthlessness gained the president's respect. Tinubu himself respects a ruthless person who is not afraid of showing it at any time.

You could have used that to compensate for your weaknesses and let money FLOW to the right places, surgically dismantle the machinery as swiftly as possible. And had he fought bravely, he clearly had the people's support and wherever he goes most Riverians will follow.

Create a state security apparatus, let the commanders be loyal to you and when election comes, release one long press statement on how those state-security officials need to be present in every polling unit. Then you buy permissible arms, tasers and handcuffs for them. FUND them well, cover every inch of the state that day, switch off your phone while the security outfit do their job. Then give a prior public announcement and firm instruction that whoever engages in malpractice would be arrested, locked up and tried. Then you clearly demonstrate it with the LG election. LOCK THEM UP and follow it up with a speedy court trial. The rest will be very scared to engage in any malpractice.

Follow this up by lobbying to get officials from two or three major countries to specifically come to Rivers to monitor the election! While at this, ensure you pay for sufficient media time in international broadcasting stations let it be aired, and make sure all your ex-Oga's shady files are with you, and have CC'ed the right quarters with copies of it.

While you do this, move to another party, fund it, sponsor candidates and make a public example of few people who fall out of line, then you would see as others will fall in line.

Then even if Wike won, with a big IF, it would have be a pyrrhic victory for him. But as it is now, the Emperor of Rivers has won and he will so deal with you on all fronts. Be grateful if you don't do jail time!
Easier said than done! grin

I would not blame Gov. Fubara for his choice. His singular act has made him an elder states man. He should just concentrate in governing and completing his tenure well. Life continues after handing over. One Term Governor no be beans.

APC saved him from impeachment. The real snag is his inability to break a deal with majority assembly members when he had the fund. Tinubu was initially unsure who to side. He was pro Fubara but discovered Wike controlled the grassroots. That's reason for sacrificing Fubara.
it's not APC that saved him from Impeachment but court of justice and the good people of Rivers State.

Let me tell you if not Buhari and some high profile politicians were supporting Obaseki against Tinubu and Oshiomole, he cannot survive what he did to his predecessor. That's what Fubara is lacking, had it been he has president support, he would have disgrace Wike to the ground.

But it's not a do or die matter just like President Jonathan said then.
There is life after elections and politics.
He who fights and runs away lives to fight another day.
This world is transient and passing away fast, even for the oppressors who think they have it all together.
It's still slipping away beyond their control.
So why all these pride, wickedness, bravado, etc. We are all just mortals.

I stand with your position on this.
A strong man will stand to fight even if it means to be harassed by the Federal might.

As a governor, he has powers too, some instruments of which media is part of them, many people will be enlightened and stands by him.

He however must have his hands clean.

If great Mandela of South African chicken out to avoid fight, his name wont be imprinted in History book.

For him saying he will support any candidate that emerge, does that means he has totally throw in the towel??

When every predecessors want to control the successors, that Godfatherism will not bring the desired growth and development to the country.

Politics is not for the weak. Especially as the Governorship level when he has enough resources and power to fight too.

He just have to be smart and intelligent to go about it..

Tinubu didn't support Fubara.
So, best decision is to withdraw from re-election contest.
Case closed.

Wike, you can rest now

Politicstoday:
You are a lazy thinker . He can move to any party and contest too.

If a person withdraws from his party’s primary election (or leaves before emergence as candidate), the law does not expressly say “you can never join another party.”
PLACNG
But under the 2026 Act, parties must submit their membership register to INEC before primaries, and only eligible members in that process can be voted for under party nomination rules. That means moving late to another party may make lawful nomination difficult or impossible depending on timing and compliance.
Credit: PLACNG
So the practical answer is:
Yes, a politician may withdraw and contest under another party only if he legally qualifies under that new party’s nomination process and INEC requirements.

Hope for Fubara to move to any party of his choice to contest for governorship election.
And they'll go and withdraw their register from inec to insert Fubara's name, right?
