Oyo School Abduction: Enough Of Sermons, Condolences — NLC Tells Tinubu by adenigga(op): 10:41pm On May 20

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has asked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nigeria’s security chiefs to address insecurity immediately following the recent abduction of school pupils and teachers in Oyo State.

NLC President, Joe Ajaero, made the demand known in a statement on Wednesday.

Recall that at least 30 pupils and seven teachers were abducted by bandits from Community High School and L.A. Basic School, Ahoro Esinele, and First Baptist School (Nursery and Primary), Yawota, all in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Thereafter, one of the teachers was reportedly decapitated by the bandits.

The development has stirred reactions from Nigerians demanding immediate action to rescue the abducted pupils and teachers.

Reacting, the union said the Nigerian government at all levels must wake up.

“Our security agencies should do a thorough soul-searching. It is superfluous to say it is their sacred duty to protect lives and property. We believe where there is a will, there will be a way. Address this challenge before it is too late.

“We demand action now. We have had enough of sermons and condolence messages. For how long should we continue to bleed like this?” the labour union stated.

I am always amazed at the outcry and noise everywhere when 3 or 4 people are killed in the South, meanwhile, everyone have completely turned blind eyes to what is happening in the middle belt, like, it's normal to kill 20 people there, no big deal about it, life goes on, no noise, no outcry, nothing!

As I speak to you, there is almost no night that passes without gun duels in the villages of the middle belt between these Islamic terrorists and the villagers, with lives lost every single day, yesterday, it was in Riyom, tomorrow it will be somewhere else, there is no outcry at all, but just touch 2 people down south, all the unions, VIP and everyone will find their voice, you can't teach this.

PBAT is playing politics with ppl lives when ordinary citizens abuse any politician or celebrities on Social media the police/DSS are quick to pick them up. How can people be moved out on foot and they're not arrested till their kidnappers took them to their destination, without been arrested.
Does that mean the security operatives were not informed untill 24vhours it happened, if not they should be able to determine where they could be two hours after the incident.
It is not fair at all.
It is a shame that the entire southwest keep quiet even the Oyo state. All that concern the government now is 2027 election.

I am not talking about Benue, Benue is just one of over 4-5 states in the middle belt, I am talking specifically about Plateau state. The APC has never won presidential elections in plateau state before, and even the one time Plateau voted the APC for governorship was hell, no Plateau indigene want APC anywhere near governorship again.

The only way in a democracy to bring pressure to bear for a change of experience is through the ballot in season and a threat to unseat those in power out of the electoral cycle. There is just no other way.

I have said it continually. If citizens continue to cheapen themselves they will receive no service, no good governance at all.

The total conquest of almost all executive power from local government to state governments across Nigeria has meant that the hard work of good governance has been exchanged with cheap power from the so called "loyalty".

If the President says today, "go to hell, I will do nothing about the situation".... What are you as a people going to do....nothing.
