President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains one of the most strategic and influential figures in Nigeria’s political landscape. Whether critics agree with his policies or not, many observers acknowledge that his political journey offers several lessons for opposition politicians seeking relevance, structure, and long-term success.

From his days as governor to becoming President, Tinubu has demonstrated traits that have helped him remain a dominant force in Nigerian politics for decades.

1. Tinubu Is Focused
One of the strongest qualities associated with Tinubu is his ability to stay focused on his political ambitions and long-term goals. For years, he built political structures, nurtured alliances, and expanded his influence across different regions of the country without losing sight of his objectives.

Opposition politicians can learn the importance of consistency and strategic patience. In politics, distractions, emotions, and temporary setbacks can derail ambitions. Tinubu’s rise shows that political success often requires years of planning, persistence, and disciplined focus rather than reacting impulsively to every challenge or criticism.

2. Tinubu Is a Stable Politician
Tinubu has also built a reputation as a politician who rarely appears politically unstable or uncertain. Even during intense political battles, he projects confidence and continuity. Many politicians frequently change alliances, ideologies, or positions for short-term gains, but Tinubu has largely maintained a recognizable political identity and structure over the years.

For opposition figures, stability is important in building trust among supporters and allies. Voters and political stakeholders are more likely to support leaders who appear dependable, organized, and emotionally composed during difficult moments. Political stability also helps in building strong institutions and loyal networks that can survive beyond election cycles.

3. Tinubu Knows How to Spend Money
Politics everywhere in the world requires resources, and Tinubu understands the importance of investing in political relationships, campaigns, grassroots mobilization, and party structures. He has consistently supported political associates, party activities, and strategic movements that strengthen his influence.

Opposition politicians can learn that political success is not achieved by popularity alone. Building a strong political movement requires funding, organization, logistics, and support for loyal supporters. Effective political spending is not merely about lavishness; it is about strategically investing resources where they can strengthen political structures and long-term influence.

4. Tinubu Rewards His Loyalists
Another defining feature of Tinubu’s political style is his willingness to reward loyalty. Over the years, many politicians who stood by him politically have gone on to secure appointments, political opportunities, or influential positions.

This approach has helped him build one of the strongest political networks in Nigeria. Opposition politicians can learn that loyalty is easier to sustain when supporters believe their sacrifices and commitment will eventually be recognized. Strong political structures are often built on trust, mutual benefit, and consistent support between leaders and followers.

5. He Is Fearless and Fierce
Tinubu has repeatedly shown political boldness, even in difficult situations. Throughout his career, he has confronted powerful political opponents, survived major political battles, and remained active despite criticism and pressure.

Opposition politicians can learn the importance of courage and resilience in politics. Leadership often demands tough decisions, public scrutiny, and the willingness to stand firm during crises. Politicians who appear timid or inconsistent may struggle to inspire confidence among supporters. Tinubu’s political journey reflects the value of determination, confidence, and the ability to remain strong under pressurFoc
You forgot to add how opposion leaders can learn from Tinubu:

1. How to mortgage the future of the unborn with unprecedented amount of foreign loan

2. And how to run aground the economy with hyper-inflation or is it galloping inflation I would call it.

Re: Five Lessons Opposition Politicians Can Learn From President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by renderme: 11:22pm On May 21
The most important trait is that he believes in young, book-smart talent & pushes them for leadership.

When he was governor, he brought a lot of young driven people into the parastatals he created. A lot of young people that studied abroad are scouted to come work for the Lagos state government.

That's why its the only city that works at the moment.

Fashola, Ambode, Sanwoolu & Hamzat are smart people from the private sector and are not politicians. Tinubu, being able to roll in the mud of politics & fight for them is the reason smart people from the private sector can become Lagos governor.

Once Tinubu leaves the scene. Its going to be the wild wild west of politicians fighting dirty to get into the Lagos state house. It would be difficult finding a combination of a technocrat with the understanding of Nigerian politics like Tinubu has. Most smart technocrats are butties.

BOLA Ahmed tinubu is a cocaine sniffing iguana who lacks basic understanding of human lives

He loves cocaine money and he is using cocaine money with the help of the Lebanese to feed ronu bread and spaghetti then take their votes
OBIDIENTS/IPOB assume everyone in Nigeria is located within their region.

All these deep hatred and insults will not make the rest of Nigeria hate the man just because you are insulting him on social media. Besides, the only reason you hate Tinubu is because he defeated your preferred candidate and it is ridiculous.

Hypocrite. Even Peter Obi said he would remove fuel subsidy on day one if elected president so I don't know what you are wailing about.

Tinubu has been giving your governor his state share of the subsidy removal but you are still barking at the president instead of asking what your governor is doing with the allocation.

Boko Haram started under Obasanjo and Obasanjo had the golden opportunity to nip insecuty in the bid but he failed. successive governments have been doing a lot to improve security in Nigeria but you would rather wail at Tinubu who came in many years after.

Score card.

Politics 99 percent.

Governance 2 percent
Democrat 2 percent.
Rule of law 3 percent.
Securing lives 1 percent.
Fighting corruption 3 percent.
Cost of living 3 percent.
Borrowing 98 percent.
Impunity 89 percent.
Hunger 97 percent.
Poverty 96 percent.

If Tinubu hadn't become president we would be saying we missed the man who built Lagos, who could have turned Nigeria into Dubai.

When Buhari said we will miss him we thought he was high on kunu or something.

Right before our very eyes we are witnessing the worst president in our history!
The only reason you hate Tinubu is because he defeated Peter Obi in the last presidential election and it is ridiculous.

You will continue to hate Tinubu and wail as long as he is president because you are being unreasonable.

Tinubu has made economic gains in several sectors of the economy but haters will deny and badmouth everything thing he does and the rest of Nigeria can see that you hate Nigeria.

Stop being short sighted because Tinubu has made gains in some sectors of Nigeria economy in terms of agriculture, commerce, international trade, security, medical, etc

Reference:
There is nothing to learn from crass politicking that suppresses the people's will, weakens their resolve to be independently minded and seeks to build unending influence through autocratic rule.

It is my sincere hope that this kind of politics will not be learnt by anyone present and particularly the generation of politicians to come.

We want a new generation that respects the people's will and puts performance as the only yardstick for their rule or not.

If there is any politician in this dispensation that should be emulated it should be Goodluck Jonathan. Serve, make the polity better and leave with no desire for succession by any way and means. Even his former Vice has all but disappeared from politics. That is what a growing democracy needs.

Mr Tinubu should govern all he wants to govern and then retire, disappear and await his legacy report down the line.
You had to create and spread lies on Tinubu just because you have deep hatred for him and the reason you hate him is because he defeated Peter Obi in the last presidential election.

How and where did Tinubu surpress the will of the people because the last elections was won fairly. That you are throwing tantrums upandan will not change that fact.
