This story is unbelievable. How were the hackers able to get PIN and biometrics to authenticate the transaction? To login into Opay app, they will need login access code or biometrics, do they also hack this too? Let's assume they can hijack the OTP and all by taking over the phone, how were they able to pass through facial verification process? Do the hackers hijack Opay database too?

The truths are two: First , some fraudsters are in the banking system.They compromise information with fraudsters outside.
Second, we should limit the amount of money kept with the fintech banks without nearby branches.They may be funny occasionally

OPay is built upon Android OS which has its own flaws. Very possible for a secure opay to be manipulated via Android OS.

See, let me break it dowm for you, when opay investigates through their backend, they will see the money was transfered using your phone, it will be in the log. Based on that case closed. They will advice you to report to the police for investigation. If they want to go further the most they will do is trace the accounts that money went through and block the bvn, but of course, what happens is that the scammer goes to recruit an illiterate aboki to register bvn and open an count which is then used for fraud. By the time they trace the aboki, he is no where to be found or ignorant of any transactions

Opay is actually doing well in terms of verification and making sure ones money is safe.

It is either he linked his account to a scam site or give out his details.

He should provide screenshots of the debits to be sure of what he is saying.

Visit any of their branch in your location and while making your complain, tell them you want to go public if they don't ratify this fast.

Olukayode adeoye transfered first N10,000,I don't know him but it was showing in my app that I transferred money to him,I was confused,so I activated the opay erroneous transfer options on the app,long story cut short, nothing happened,just story's from opay,that they have informed palmpay,the bank of the thief and no response,about 4weeks later,another N1000 was transferred again to same Israel olukayode adeoye palmpay..so I have totally stopped using opay,they are very easy to hack, remember a member of the national assembly made such remarks few months ago.

I think the real question is how much security and permissions did he give the still unamed app?

I haven't rooted any device since 2015. Very hard to root most modern phones. I remember then that a lot of apps will simply refuse to run on a rooted device and you have to introduce another app that spoofs non root status

My point is that it is more likely than not that op bypassed or disabled multiple system protections without understanding the implications.

If you are going to run a hacked or dodgy device, you should not have your critical info or main account on it.

If this story is true the fact that the op has failed to name it or where he got it from is a red flag.

Opay cannot help you to secure your phone bro. If Opay is not that safe a lot of accounts would be compromised already.

When a thief gained access to your house using your key, we should ask you what happened to your key, how did the thief gain access to it, not saying the lock is not secured.

Greed must have made you downloaded the scam app in the first play.

Those app will not go away unless you flash your phone.

Your phone should have warned you while downloading the strange App. The playstore or Apple is the ideal place to get a healthy App.
