Peter Obi was already a wealthy young trader in his late twenties when he led other importers to a protest at Apapa before Abacha called them for a meeting and at the meeting, Abacha was so shocked and impressed at the very young and vibrant boy that led importers to the meeting with Abacha. Abacha asked who he was, he told Abacha he was an importer, Abachas asked what he imports, he told Abacha, Abachas asked him how many years he has been doing business, he told Abacha right from when he was a student at UNN, Abachas was wowed and said I appoint you the leader of the task force to decongest Apapa port. Go and study how to do it and report back to me and that was how he served as a task force leader at apapa port for some months under Abacha.


But remember, he was a very rich trader and importer which made Abacha marvel and recognize him.
