InfoGuru118:The only reason I didn't 'Like' your post is because I believe there may be a possible exception in Tunji Ojo, although he is currently not seeking a political office, as far as I know. |

WantsandMore:Trump and his family have contributed significantly to their States. They are big players in real estate and entertainment. Plus Trump was backed by the powers that be. These ones came from relative obscurity and became appointed. All of a sudden they are running for Governor. President is easier to win than Governor. Your people know you very well and they know what theu have benefitted from you. |

Unigrad:Someone who failed woefully for that matter. I believe Tinubu was happy to see him resign. He certainly was looking for a way to get rid of him all along. A national disgrace vying for governorship? Chai! ![]() |

2mch:shallow argument. Do not project your limitations on others. Possibly, say things in your opinion, because as it stands , you're generalizing a self imposed opinion whereas in life there's nothing anyone, anywhere can't do. |

Elibaba1:Being a member of the House of Reps is a more stable occupation than being a Minister and a Minister of State for that matter that can be removed in a cabinet shake up at a moment notice. |

Bobloco:It is not. If you stay in Abuja and enjoy yourself even if you do well in your assignment the locals will not regard you. Politics is local and not online or always appearing in the news. This is what Obi don't understand. They taught him a bit and he began to go up and down sinking ancient boreholes and donating money. This is not enough. You do it when you don't need anything from them. When you need them you tell them that it's your turn to get paid back. |

Dancebreaker:This one na for career and politics forever politicians. Technocrats in the government have no time and interest in politics. Once they leave, they head back to their profession. |

Why not build a first term portfolio on credibility and trust with your ministerial office, then, proceed to run for HA or GV? Is this not common sense? No, not here, in nigeria. |

SadiqBabaSani:Being a Minister does not give you an advantage if you suddenly want to get into political level at State level. This is because many Ministers are technocrats and not core/grassroot politicians with solid local followership as others have spent years becoming. Meaning most Ministers will lose outright against opponents well-entrenched in State/local politics if they resign to contest for office in their State of origin. Adelabu, for example, was a good and effective power Minister IMO. His effort to tackle the problem of non cost-reflective tariffs in the power sector is the truth because Nigeria needs private sector investor cash and expertise to deliver our now fully deregulated/privatised power sector. They will stay away if Nigerians are unwilling to pay the true cost of power supply inclusive of decent ROI profit for investors. Much as I was hoping Adelabu can become Governor, I was always sceptical he could secure APC ticket because I don't believe he is prominent in OYo local politics. It is foolhardy for Ministers to believe their visibility to Nigerians somehow gives them an advantage, when they wish to contest political office in their States, against well-entrenched politicians withe gradsroots popularity. As simple as that. All this rubbish of linking the political loss of some Ministers to their involvement in Tinubu's government is prejudiced and lazy thinking. |

Racoon:Rubbish talk as usual from one of the most emotional and biased poster on Nairaland. I don't believe I have ever seen a measure post from you showing critical thinking and not inflluenced by your pathological and inordinate hatred of the Tinubu Government. Are most Ministers politicians? No. Many are technocrats. Ministers who resign to contest for political office in their State of origin can be praised for their bravery and ambition but even they will know it's a big gamble because they are going up against well-entrenched career politicians, popular at State grassroots level, most of the time. Loss of Tinubu's Ministers has nothing to do with the bolded in your post. What "evil" did Adelabu "enthrone" at the national level if, beyond emotions and ignorance, you truly understand the solution our power sector needs? |

Vision101:Ministers are mostly political acolytes from the business and political class. Considering the huge money in 9ja politics, many former technocrats want to go into politics these days. But most don't have the godfather, grassroot and financial base 9ja politics require. But true, the genuine technocrats/intellectuals find 9ja politics too messy to venture into. |
