I didn't , but I know of the book. My secondary school had a copy in the school library, and I borrowed it once and read it. Only learned about the ancient greek connection later.

Ladies and gentlemen, while we strive to care for our children, let's endeavour to raise them right and not spoil them out of too much love! If you truly love your children, show that by raising them right not by spoiling them with soft life. You are not helping your children if all you do is buy them everything they ask for without imparting good morals into them. A country like Nigeria doesn't need pampering your children so much otherwise, they'll not survive on the long run.

If this 19years old boy had been raised with the right Christian values, he wouldn't have turned out the way he did. It is hard to come across children from wealthy homes who are not spoilt and wayward.

First thing first, a 21-yrs old Nigerian male is intellectually equivalent to a 12-yrs old in a decent society and should not be managing any business for the parents. Only those who went through apprenticeship can do that.

This is a really sad story.

I think he was doing the right, scolding the boy for behaving badly and for keeping late nights, at the wrong time.

A boy that came home probably drunk, and overdose on drugs shouldn't be confronted at all. He could have been dealt with when the toxic stuff in his body system don calm...probably by evening the next day.

We all need to be sensitive, and be emotional aware.

May the soul of the father find rest. 🙏
