The Niger State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unanimously endorsed former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON, as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was contained in a resolution issued in Minna on Sunday, May 24, 2026, after extensive consultations across the state.

The resolution, signed by the State Chairman of the ADC in Niger, Hon. Abdulhamid El-Waziri, on behalf of the State Working Committee, State Executive Committee, Local Government Chairmen and Ward Chairmen, described the decision as unanimous and resolute.

According to the party, the endorsement was based on Atiku Abubakar’s “unimpeachable record of distinguished public service,” vast experience, national acceptability, and proven capacity to lead the country.

The Niger State ADC said it arrived at the decision after a careful assessment of all presidential aspirants and their readiness to challenge the ruling party in the 2027 polls.

The chapter also pledged that all its delegates would vote for Atiku Abubakar at the party’s presidential primary scheduled for May 25 and 26, 2026.

The resolution further called on other state chapters of the ADC to support the former Vice President for the unity and progress of the party.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is one of the opposition parties positioning itself as a strong alternative ahead of the 2027 general elections.

One thing I know is that Obi lost his chances to become the president of Nigeria forever the moment he jumped to NDC with the egomaniac Kwankaso. He's going no where. Bookmark this comment for 2027. I fought hard not to accept that Obi is even working for Tinubu. Or it's Juju that's actually working. The biggest opportunity to dislodge this monumental failure of a government and the best pathway for Eastern presidency, would have been a joint ticket of Obi and Atiku. By now, Tinubu and Apc would be peeing into their pants. Ambition blinds. I'm not voting anyone in 2027. Never!

What i feel right now is that the court will judge in their favour, so that Atiku will divide the vote of the opposition further since Obi has left the party.

See, Atiku is not energizing the northerners the way he needs to, something OK is clearly doing in the South, if not he would have won in 2023, when the odds were better in his favour. Sir. That combination can't work in 2027, why? because time, perception, preferences and dynamics has changed. Nobody would vote an Atiku in the south when it's the time for the south, 2023 was the best opportunity for PDP to takeover and reclaim their throne as king of democracy, but they forked up. And ADC didn't learn from PDP in 2023, why will ADC repeat the same mistakes of PDP? we should understand one thing, Tinubu won without government apparatus "allegedly", now he as everything, do you think his going to loose?
