I’ve been trying to find Nigerians abroad for work, interviewing them and asking how they relocated. One thing I’ve noticed during my search is how everybody is now a “Japa coach”.

Everywhere you turn now, somebody is selling a relocation masterclass, consultation, CV package, visa mentorship, Telegram group, “secret route”, etc.
And maybe it’s just me, but some of the prices are insane 😭

Like, I understand people monetising knowledge, but sometimes it feels like they are taking advantage of how desperate and confused a lot of Nigerians are right now, especially because half the time the information is already publicly available or came from another random person’s Twitter thread.
I even saw somebody charging for “hidden European countries Nigerians don’t know about” 😭 what's that about?

It just made me realise how deeply capitalistic and exploitative Nigerians can be, especially when we're in a seemingly better situation than before; we barely hear enough from normal people who actually relocated successfully without all this packaging around it.

If you don’t want a short cut or aren’t lazy to research, all you need is on the cyberspace freely. It will cost you only the data and your phone/laptop to tap into the resources.

Honestly, if only most people know that you can actually apply your visa yourself. All it takes is careful review of what the requirements are and patiently gather all of them and then submit, you definitely get your visa. Please do your research to any country of your choice and you will be fine.

Most Nigerians are very exploitative and selfish. I think the poverty, coupled with severe hardship experienced over the years made most average Nigerian heartless and self centered.

Do your own research on where you're going to so that people won't make money off you. The only thing is that you must be willing to put in the work and learn about the country you're going to and the visa process, it's not rocket science.

But you can't expect a random person online to give you the blueprint and every necessary information you need for free, it doesn't usually work that way. Put in the work and do it yourself, that's it.
Re: These Japa Coaches Are Lowkey Predatory by tiswell(m): 8:16am On May 25
They are all hustlers.
Some of them are just trying to survive.
Re: These Japa Coaches Are Lowkey Predatory by GloriousGbola: 8:21am On May 25
The average Nigerian

believes there is a shortcut
Is not willing to put in the work to figure out the issue
Wants it sharp sharp
Has no issues with obviously dodgy and fraudulent methods.

As long as these variables apply, people will continue to be fleeced

You are absolutely correct, l recently met a guy outside Nigeria. He told me that he did and completed his Master's degree program online in another country in the Oceania continent with his Smart phone shocked l doubted him initially until he opened his phone and l saw everything from his Admission to the program/ Certification/ Advanced Certification/ Post-graduate/ Masters degree and the shocking thing was that the courses taught at the Masters program he took were courses taught at the Doctorates level he has graduated from the program.

My point is this with a phone/ internet/ Wi-Fi or Data you have all the tools to make a unique difference in your life

This is not 1980 or 1990 , Technology has made life simple if you are ready to pay the price, discipline yourself , do some research, update and continue to upskill yourself, otherwise na Agents go chop your money as long as you are lazy ooooooooo mucheche Hahaha 😂

There’s no education we pay for that isn’t already available for free. But many people still need human guidance because a lot of them either can’t research effectively on their own or simply prefer being guided by someone and are happy to pay for that guidance.

In the end, it comes down to supply and demand. If there were absolutely no demand for a product, there would be no sellers. You can’t really blame sellers for being resourceful enough to identify something people want and offering it for sale.

There's absolutely nothing difficult or complicated about traveling in this information age. Most things can be done personally with the right information and proper research.

Be careful of people parading themselves as travel agents just to exploit and scam unsuspecting individuals. Verify everything, cross-check information from official sources, and avoid handing over your money or documents to unverified and so-called agents.

A lot of travel processes today are very easy and straightforward if you take the time to learn them.

Now that they've gone overseas, they will now accumulate and force all the SUFFERING they

Anyway, I went to UK years back but as a student. GBP was N250 then.
Process was very straight forward. Follow whatever is written on the website.
But remaining behind after studies was 3 ways.
1. They like you and give you work permit. Impossible.
2. You marry a British person and do fake marriage/fake divorce.
3. You hide inside bushes and live outside the law for 10+ years.
-
I tried Number 1 for 2 years. They didn't take me.
My cousin tried number 2 and still there.
I knew some Nigerians who did number 3. They didn't want to associate as any small thing can blow their cover.

Hope this helps.

Many Nigerians are very gullible /lazy to research things by themselves. Google is FREE yet majority do not utilize it. Hence, these Japa coaches saw this market and tapped into it.

Recently, a prospective client came to meet me to help him recover money from these unscrupulous travel agencies who "scammed" him of his money. He contacted them to help him apply for schools abroad, signed a bad agreement with them too. They didn't fulfil any obligations for over a year until he came to me for advice.

You all will learn the hard way.

Either you go the DIY route or consult accredited travel agencies, stop patronising every Tom, Dick and Harry TikTok japa "coaches".
Re: These Japa Coaches Are Lowkey Predatory by Kaczynski: 9:01am On May 25
They’re just regurgitating the same Twitter threads you’ve already read slapping a price tag on it.

Nigerians love a hustle. They'll sell you a dream, a prayer, and a fake visa stamp all in the same breath. And the sad truth? It works. Because when you’re desperate, you’ll clutch at any straw even if it’s just a Nigerian in a poorly lit room promising you the keys to EU.

So yeah the system’s broken. The coaches are leeches and the real success stories? They’re out there sipping espresso in Lisbon or freezing their dutts off in Malmo too busy living their lives to bother with the noise.

At least the scammers are inflating the GDP of our country.

when i carried my son to abuad to close out on his admission, i met a parent who had effectively outsourced the entire process to a third party.

All you needed to do was go to the website, apply, pay application fee, upload results and check in every 2 days for update

but this man, a senior manager in zenith bank with a son who was supposed to be reading computer science, had outsourced this simple task to a person who had done nothing until the admission portal was closed.

Were they able to resolve it?

can't say. in my case admission had closed on the portal, but the process had been started and was like 70% done. in their case, they had not even started. they had not applied and admission was closed but the thing about private uni - they want your money - so i guess they probably sorted it out. i should have asked my son but other issues came up that made me forget.

i was silently wondering how a youth who was supposed to read computer science and who had a very good jamb score somehow could not go through the process of applying for admission online.

maybe that one was outsourced as well
