Obi, Makinde, GEJ Part Of Gang-up To Deplete Tinubu's Southern Base - Osoba by fergie001(mod): 2:53pm On May 25
President Bola Tinubu’s ally and elder statesman, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, has alleged a gang-up against the President in Southern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The gang-up, he alleged, is aimed at fielding different presidential candidates from the region with a view to dividing votes and drastically reducing Tinubu’s margin.

Osoba, a veteran journalist and former Governor of Ogun State, spoke at the Presidential Lodge, Abeokuta, during the announcement of the result of the APC presidential primaries.

In the primaries held across the 20 local government areas of Ogun State, Tinubu polled 322,485 votes to emerge winner.

Governor Dapo Abiodun, who served as the state coordinator and collation officer, announced the result in the presence of Osoba; Deputy Governor Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele; Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziak Salako; the APC governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola; Senator representing Ogun Central, Shuaib Afolabi Salisu; State APC Chairman, Yemi Sanusi; among other APC leaders.

Announcing the results, Abiodun said Tinubu polled 322,485 votes to defeat his rival, Stanley Osifo, who scored zero votes.

Speaking shortly before the announcement, Osoba asked APC members to prepare for the “real election” coming next January.

Osoba described insinuations among APC members that Tinubu has no opponent as a misleading narrative.

“The enemies are many,” Osoba said, warning APC stakeholders against complacency.

The APC leader particularly alleged that the ambitions of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, and former President Goodluck Jonathan, whom he said has been waiting quietly in the background, are all part of attempts to divide Southern votes against Tinubu.

He said: “I want to appeal to us all ahead of the coming election: let us not be caught off guard. Many people are saying we have no opponents, but that is a misleading narrative. The enemies are many.

“As we approach the next election, there is a strong gang-up against us. They are plotting to field several candidates from our region in the South. Obi has emerged, Jonathan is quietly waiting in the background, and Makinde has been grandstanding. All these appear to be attempts to divide votes from the South.

“So, I want to passionately appeal to everyone to be prepared to vote massively. Do you agree with me? Please, I am sincerely pleading with you.

“Under our governor, President Tinubu has been good to us in Ogun State through a series of developmental projects. I hope you will all repay the President’s gesture with your support. Will you do that or not?”

What's the gang up? I thought they said the South was a done deal grin

Didn't he just get 11 million votes? What they are preparing for in 2027 is to add other votes, they will call it "all the wonderful people of Nigeria who love the APC".

10.9 million APC votes + APC loving Nigerians grin
SixSeven:
Stop wasting your time. They did the same thing to Buhari in 2019 but it was all based on LIES

Muhammadu Buhari secured 3,430 votes at the 2014 All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention to emerge as the party's presidential flagbearer for the 2015 elections. Later, for his 2019 re-election bid, he was affirmed via voice vote after polling 14,842,072 direct primary votes across Nigeria.

Unlike the 2014 competitive delegate system, the APC adopted a direct primary system in October 2018. Party members nationwide voted in their states, yielding 14,842,072 votes for Buhari as the sole aspirant. These figures were officially announced and ratified by a celebratory voice vote at Eagle Square, Abuja.

2019 Voting Breakdown and Results
Muhammadu Buhari (APC): 15,191,847 votes (55.6% of valid votes).

Atiku Abubakar (PDP): 11,262,978 votes (41.2% of valid votes).

Culled from the internet. Lies lies lies
In real-world human data, a minor challenger will almost always accidentally or intentionally secure a handful of votes across thousands of polling locations due to local protest votes, errors, or family ties. Perfect "zero-vote" sweeps across massive populations are a classic hallmark of data that has been manually written into a spreadsheet rather than organically counted from ballot boxes. In 2019, the total number of delegates who voted for and against Ambode (1,043,754) was more than the number of votes in the election (956,220).

Buhari is indeed underrated as a democrat. He was not a good President but I must give him credit for being a democrat. He indeed was for everybody and for nobody. Except Lawan cheesy This his friend has been so interested in politics from Day 1, to govern de hard am

Out of 17 southern states, he won only 4 states apart from Rivers he committed abomination..
What’s this man talking about ?

The reality is now hitting them because core north is turning their back on them, they have to look down south, but it’s not gonna work, just like it didn’t work in 2023

I thought some miscrants were bragging of how Tinubu has the election in the bag.
The wise Osoba has seen what a lot of them are too blind to see.
I hope the Apc miscrants will continue living in their delusion

If he is working, why should they be scared, Nigerians would vote for a working president.
No need to fear, he should show us what he has done since he became president, let his work speak for him, he can go and sleep.
All Nigerians will vote for a working president.

Tinubu is a goner. SS and SE votes are gone. Lagos will be divided into four, with Tinubu only able to hold 30%. Psun, Oyo and Ondo will be shared. The same is to crowd him out of the South and lry the North decide.
Obviously, the winner will either be Atiku or Obi. After inauguration, ADC, NDC, PDP and APM will merge into a bigger party.

These comments are insulting to the intelligence of Nigerians and voters.
The votes would vote for the best candidate. If Tinubu has not performed but relying on votes from the South, then it means he does not respect Southerners. If he has performed, he should be expecting votes from all over the nation, not the South or South west alone

one thing is certain , everyone knows that tinubu has failed woefully and doesnt dserve a second term but the major question now is , who is the best person to take over from him and secondly how will or can the opposition wrestle power away from tinubu and apc yet without losing the elections themselves

Why should we care about this tribalistic ideology when we are focused on returning our country to PDP’s privatisation and deregulation policies that gave us 16 years of widespread prosperity, cheap petrol, low debt, low unemployment, low insecurity etc huh

Osoba should please STFU with his archaic rhetoric to hold us down in APC extreme poverty and insecurity shege.
Re: Obi, Makinde, GEJ Part Of Gang-up To Deplete Tinubu's Southern Base - Osoba by onatisi(m): 3:14pm On May 25
honestly i like the idea of having multiple string candidates , it will split everyone votes , if apc is only facing 2 string candidats , it will be easy for them to rig but let them face 5 to 6 strong candidates . they will find it difficult

Citizens are starving and dying in thousands on monthly basis, but tinubu and his unfortunate minions are busy propping election statistics and strategies.

If Nigerian youths had any iota of seriousness, this country ought to be made ungovernable for that Iragbiji deity in aso rock💀.

Is all about performance, if Nigeria economy and security is okay, we will all vote for him for continuity, wereby reverse is the case, nobody wants failure.
We want our giant of Africa back, I don't know how Nigeria got the name, we want our economy and security back, is it to hard for Tinubu to understand?
Nigerians need a good life, good road, secured environment, jobs, cheap food items, etc.
Is good governance that determines re-election, not media warriors.
How secure is Nigeria?
What is the price of things in the market?
These are the questions that determines re-election, not complaint.

This is a very deep and sound warning.

The permutations of Chief Osoba is technically correct...decimate the southern votes to injure Tinubu and every other Southern contestant...while Atiku sweep across the North...

There may be no outright winner at the first ballot...and this can setup a rerun.

Whichever case ...coast is not clear for anyone

Do you know our politics better than PDP’s 2010 Anambra candidate, who has been elected twice as APGA candidate?

The same APGA that Obiano kicked out Obi from in 2014, before Atiku revived his dead political career five years later.

jameshankss:
Arguing that Obi’s presidential bid would only work in favour of Tinubu, Soludo said, “Indeed, if I were Asiwaju Tinubu, I would even give Peter Obi money as someone heading one of the departments of his campaign, because Obi is making Tinubu’s pathway to victory much easier by indirectly pulling down PDP.”

Obi, according to Soludo, would only deplete the votes of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and pave the path for an APC victory.

He stated, “The current fleeting frenzy, if not checked, will cost Ndigbo dearly for years. The South-east has the lowest number of votes of any region, but it is also the only region where the presidential race might be a four-way race (it is a two-way race in the other five regions) thereby, ensuring that our votes won’t count in the making of the next president of Nigeria.

This is simply political manipulation by the failed former governor of Ogun state.

Tinubu is getting another term to continue his wrecking ball job in Aso Rock.

Why would 2027 be different from 2023, when a divided opposition handed him easy victory huh
