See am. First response is from a jambite who talks rubbish about the government because everybody else does. It’s like their love for soccer. Ask them why it is the greatest form of entertainment and they can’t give you details. Na una way.

Nah you respond to yourself nah!! Mr kpangolo!!

Everyone knows government policies affect prices everywhere... angry undecided

Except those that refuse to use their own head and want to be spoon fed like lazy babies.

Subsidy removal, naira devaluation, inflation rise - fuel prices, transport cost, electricity rise with salary remaining behind equals food inflation.

End result pomo first meat later. Supporting someone doesn't mean you should off your brain. Especially when you are the one bearing the brunt of the hardship.

If you like stay there and justify your hardship looking for who to spoon feed you like a ss1 student or a jambite at your age!

The livestock value chain in Nigeria as in this case cattle is being run dysfunctionally.......the demand for beef outweighs the supply and too many middle men in the chain, cost of transportation is also a problem but I dont tend to agree with the superfluous figures being mentioned as the cost for logistics for each cow,I hear ridiculous figures like 500k per cow, how's that even possible.

The sector isnt under govt control and its a free market where the players determine the prices......its an economic chess game because the people who rear these cattle knows that those who demand it the most produce no cattle so they exploit the people as much as they can and there is really nothing tinubu can do.

Govt needs to upgrade our railway, the kano to lagos line and the maiduguri PH line so that cattle can be moved more cheaply from the north to the south also govt should allow players import beef in the mean time and you will see prices drop, just as in rice,if tinubu didn't allow importation we would have been buying a bag 150k by now due to the greed of our farmers.

I thought you're into logistics
Whoever told you 500k per cow does not rate your iq
Who transports a single cow down south from the north?
Even if beef is imported, it will still be expensive. Frozen poultry, fish and sausages that's imported is more expensive per kilo compared to beef
Rice price fell because majority of the rice flooding the market is smuggled. Only a dummy will be praising open borders as an economic solution. Your farmers pay through their nose for imported farm inputs like fertilisers, herbicides, machineries due to high import duties etc but you open your borders for free rice to come in and you clap for yourselves.
Darn!!

Lastly, the demand for beef does not outweigh its supply. That's your own imagination. You can't expect general price of commodities to rise and that of beef to be an exception

Explain like I’m an SS1 student how President Tinubu is responsible for me buying pomo instead of proper meat due to rising costs.
If you need explanation how Tinubu is responsible for your not been able to afford meat that you used to be able to afford, you were never buying the meat by yourself and are most probably a dependant of someone who is working his socks off to keep you well fed. Ask the person feeding you this question and I assure you'll get a satisfactory answer

You are obviously limited in memory as it was you yourself that was justifying same 500k transportation cost per cow in the other thread that I vehemently disagreed with, now you are taking a 360° spin to sound politically correct.

How is imported poultry more expensive than beef comparatively.....I dont make inferences without facts and I am not an arm chair critic like most of you inept ideologues......a kg of chicken cost 5k as against 8k for beef.

I agree the bulk of the poultry we consume is being smuggled, but I need you to imagine what the price would be if we didn't have foreign poultry at all.

On rice, your petulant rants about high cost of rice a major Nigerian stable being out of the reach of most Nigerians at 100k per bag was the puerile rhetoric you and your obidients kept crying a little while back now the govt did what was expedient to allow importation since all attempts at self sufficiency has failed since gej......this drove down the prices drastically my about 50%,now In Your ever flippant character, you are blaming same govt for atleast partly ameliorating the same hunger you said was pervading the land echoing the same vile rantings of the rabble rousing obi and his neo facist mob....the drop in the price of rice has affected every other food crop from beans to yam etc.

Your inference that imported beef will lead to higher prices is an assumption that holds no water in basic economics.....when the market is flooded with beef, supply will naturally outweigh demand and prices will go down as happened with rice, there are countries with far bettere comparative advantagein beef priduction that we can import from.....this is the only solution the govt can embark on in the meantime to drive food inflation down while scaling up our rail transport for cheaper movement of cattle from the north down south and also pending when road projects like the sokoto-badagry highway or calabar Abuja highway can be completed.

Ye must be high on something cheap. When did I justify 500k per cow? You mentioned it and I ignored cause I believed only a complete ignoramus and a dunce will believe such a ridiculous tale. For someone who claims to be into logistics, it is absurd for you to repeat such lie when it is common knowledge that trailers are hired based on the size of your goods and not per good.

Are you sure you live in Nigeria at all? Who still imports chicken into Nigeria apart from the elites who are addicted to imported foods? At least 80% of chicken in Nigeria is locally produced! Importation of chicken is banned. I was referring to turkey per kilo which goes for 9500 not chicken. Your claim that majority of chicken in Nigerian markets is smuggled is an ignorant claim. Only turkey is still imported en masse.

Policy somersault to mask obvious failures is not a smart way to run an economy. You can't be killing local industries simply because you lack the capacity to confront the challenges in the sector. You guys told us that Tinubu is smart and a visionary. I guess his vision now is to kill local farmers. Same APC was claiming rice pyramids under Buhari now blaming Obi and his supporters for their failure. And you must be in another planet not to know that price of yam fluctuates with season. The price is up now. What do you attribute that to now? I hope you won't blame US-Iran war. You don't have good understanding of Nigerian food market

Stop making baseless economic claims. Why has the price of data gone up? Is the market starved of data? What about cement? Sugar nko? There is something called cost price and you can't go below your cost price in any market. If you like build rail all over the country, if the input cost of goods is high, you get only higher selling price no matter how many roads you build. That is the direct effect of naira devaluation and its attendant inflation. Go and verify!!

That's what some of you are getting wrong. Government don't put food on masses table.

Infact government don't create jobs, they only create enabling environment

Btw, it seems like some people already tied their progress in life on government which could be the biggest mistake
