Wake him up.
School hours is for learning, when they're on break then he can sleep.

No oh don't wake him up! go and bring mattress for him then use handfan and be fanning him to help him sleep well cos that's the reason the parents paid his school fees.

Abeg, allow the poor child to sleep first. Who knows if he was able to sleep the previous night due to hunger caused by this evil regime.

Let him sleep. The likely causes are

1) Poor diet
2) Anxiety and unrest at home

At that age, the only way to help him is to let his brain get the rest it needs whenever possible, even if in class. If possible, get him fruits, vegetables, and proteins to offset his diet at home. The teacher could always give him lessons after he had slept well, and give him homework and study to take home with him. Hopefully, the work will help keep his mind occupied and away from possible issues at home. 😒

Let the child sleep.

It's highly necessary and needed for the brain 🧠

A child who sleeps in class is not necessarily an indisciplined child. People usually sleep because their brains are tired and in need of rest. 😒
Re: IN ALL HONESTY: How Would You Advise This Classroom Teacher? by GloriousGbola: 5:25pm On May 25
A bigger question is why is the child not getting enough sleep at home?
Re: IN ALL HONESTY: How Would You Advise This Classroom Teacher? by Kingandhonor: 5:26pm On May 25

That's the issue "he's just a kid" that statement is wrong, especially in class room activities.

Though it depends on what grade. But if as a teacher you start cultivating the attitude of "he's just a kid" then you're helping the child to doom.

Many so called "he's just a kid" are wiser than some adults today.

Tell the whole class to sleep. It would be unfair to them not be studying while he is sleeping and it sends the wrong message or wake him up.
Re: IN ALL HONESTY: How Would You Advise This Classroom Teacher? by YoobaNesan: 5:28pm On May 25

Re: IN ALL HONESTY: How Would You Advise This Classroom Teacher? by Jeezuzpick(m): 5:30pm On May 25
In her shoes, I'd allow him sleep.

Then, when he wakes up, I'll talk to him. I'll ask him how he's feeling, if everything's okay, if he's sleeping well at home, how he comes to school in the morning....

Stuff like that.

It's good to understand what will.make a little boy drop off to sleep like this.

Understanding is the non-negotiable first step towards dealing with a problem.
