Ironfaceman:I am not a fan of 80's rap. Even back then it sounded really lame to my young ears. The later rappers like Coolio, Snoop, Bone, Thugs et al impressed me more...or maybe my taste just evolved. |

Ishilove:How old were you when these songs were released? |
| Re: Rob Base Has Died Aged 59 by Ironfaceman(m): 4:59pm On May 25 |
No qualms. It's called variety though. Coolio, snoop, and bone thugsNharmony. They explored mostly gangsta rap Rob base explored party rap, the kind that is danceable.. It may interest you to know Rob genre open doors for artist like kidNplay, will Smith, Heavy D and brotherhood creed. Ishilove: |

Heavy d of blessed memories passed on in the 90s. Very sad ![]() Ishilove: |

Ishilove: Ironfaceman:Heavy D died in 2011 (he acted in Bones and other TV series in the 2000s). I remember when I heard the news, so I remember what killed him. I remember that people had been warned that they should try to exercise if they were on long distance flights. The reason is that blood clots could develop if you sit down for too long. If I remember correctly, he attended an event in Europe and a blood clot developed. It broke free and restricted blood flow causing a heart attack. Heavy D collapsed and died outside his house not long after returning from a trip to Europe. |

naptu2:It is only It Takes Two that made an impression on me. The other ones sounded like background noise to me 🤷 Ironfaceman |
| Re: Rob Base Has Died Aged 59 by Ishilove: 8:05pm On May 25 |
Naptu2, Bones was a horror movie, right? |
| Re: Rob Base Has Died Aged 59 by naptu2(op): 8:12pm On May 25 |
Ishilove:How old were you at the time. Get On The Dancefloor was probably an even bigger hit in Nigeria than It Takes Two. No party was complete without it. It was on TV shows, on the radio, etc. Joy and Pain was also very popular. |
| Re: Rob Base Has Died Aged 59 by Ishilove: 8:15pm On May 25 |
naptu2:Oh, Get on the dance floor!! I googled it and realised oh, so this is the song! I wonder why I only remembered It Takes Two ![]() |

Ishilove:It was a detective show. The man was an FBI agent, the woman was a genius and a scientist who often worked with bones and other stuff, so the man called her Bones (she didn't like the name). Heavy D acted as the owner of a bar that the man frequented. |

naptu2:That was the popular track that introduced me to Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock in 1988 right BELOW. 1988 was a real blast with "Get On The Dance Floor." Rob Base - Get On The Dance Floor. (1988) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9cKJ2ew0b0 The rap OGs are gradually leaving the physical state. Coolio passed on at 59, then Rob Base too passed on at 59. Cancer is one thing that stem cell therapy researchers have to really work on to get a final cure. Some types of cancers already have cures through stem cell treatments. Stay in power Rob. |

meobizy:You have to listen to the tracks of some of my favorite rap OGs from the 1980s such as my main men LL Cool J and Kool Moe Dee just so you know the kind of stuff the are lyrically made of! The original rap OGs who laid the foundations of rap are from the early 1980s. Those were the folks I listened to from back in the early 1980s to the late 1980s into the 1990s. The later rappers who evolved from the 1990s usually give a lot of props to the 1980s rap pioneers who are the Gen X MCs who laid the foundations of rap culture. Think of the rock-solid Generation X rappers from the 1980s... 1. LL Cool J (who is still spitting out mature rhymes to the delight of younger Americans who are tired of the violence in gangster rap) 2. Kool Moe Dee 3. Ice T 4. MC Hammer 🔨 5. Vanilla Ice 6. Heavy D and the Boys... Etc |
