These fund managers should be investigated by EFCC n ICPC..

Lol

ASI is up does not mean a fund manager will make profit.
What matters is the stock they've invested in and the percentage allocated to each stock in their basket.

Some stocks were red yesterday. So what if those red stocks are what they have in their baskets.

Have they ever disclosed the stocks they're investing in.. keep defending them while they swim in billions of profits n spray little gains to investors.

I believe you are aware that you can invest directly in stocks so they won't be able to steal your money again.
Re: Equity Investment. by playces: 9:28am On May 26
But when the rise was sweet, u were praising them. Now that it's south, u don't need to condemn them. If u not comfortable, u will jux withdraw your cash and have peace. They told u that it's long term run. Season of bulls and bears. The money go still come down. Nah prayer of some ppl b that

Forget ASI, try to check stock prices, they are still doing badly, the ones that are not doing badly are just stagnant, no upward movement. You can't blame the fund managers.

It seems like equity fund is not for u
Were u expecting the market to be going up continuously? All through April, the market was blazing, it is only natural for it to cool off. Serious patience is needed in this market, it is not even advisable to be monitoring daily prices for equity fund, it is not mmf. If u are not ready to take the risk & fluctuations that come with equity, u are better off with mmf.
Re: Equity Investment. by CSblackpink(m): 9:46am On May 26
I used to be like him; trading foreign stocks has really tamed my views on stocks. In the last two weeks, I had a paper loss of 15% of my capital in just 4days.

That was massive. I hope you've recovered from the loss.

The market is up today, and I only need 3% to recover from the losses. Buying the dip actually was a blessing in disguise.

Re: Equity Investment. by CSblackpink(m): 10:09am On May 26
If I had started in Jan, I would be 95% up. I recently knew there are negative years whereby no profit will be made for those years.

That's true
Some years come red. I noticed it in ngx as well.

Stocks is really a long term investment. All funds should not be dumped in it. You should have a ratio between equity and mmf to balance things.
Re: Equity Investment. by CSblackpink(m): 10:55am On May 26
Yes, bro. Most of the world leaders are also investing in stocks. Donald Trump also promotes some stocks on his social media; the only option is to relax and build generational wealth without panicking.

Loooool it’s not even a month of cooling off of the market and someone is crying. Like someone else here said, just withdraw your money and invest directly at this point lol. Market is up and down, if you want only up, buy MMF

""U know nothing Jon snow"". Keep making excuses for these FMs.

My views remains that as long as their stock portfolios is not fully disclosed daily, they will keep manipulating d system,, hw hard is it for ur brain to process that??

Bros, you don't need these Fund managers then (if you think they are fraudulent).
Just open a CSCS account with a stockbroker, and choose your stocks for your self.
Re: Equity Investment. by auschris: 1:14pm On May 26
I believe you are entitled to your opinion about the sincerity of fund managers. A little more understanding of equity funds will support the current happenings in the ASI vis a vis the returns from the equity funds. I say this from the perspective of someone that invests heavily in mutual funds and ETFs that track the S&P 500. Most of the naija equity funds invest heavily in large cap equities and majority of the these have not done well this month. Someone posted a list of the stocks that paramount or cardinalstone invests in a while ago.
Lastly, there is a reason why these funds are regulated by SEC. Personally, I will not invest in something I don't trust and like someone suggested earlier, you might be better off investing in individual equities on your own rather than committing your money to fund managers.

Lol...

You keep displaying ignorance.

Disclose stock portfolio daily? For real undecided

Here's a little lesson to why they'd not do that;

Daily disclosure of holdings is intentionally avoided. If everyone knew a large fund was about to buy or sell a stock, traders would front-run the trade and that will make it more expensive for your fund.

Also, you don't expect fund managers to be buying and selling stocks daily like Ekenwa market. Market will scatter na. There'll always be ups and downs with no bearing. So they buy and hold, and only move fractions of the funds to rebalance. Are you even aware there are charges when you buy or sell? You this guy sef grin

However, if you desperately need transparency, wait till month end and get your fund manager's factsheet. It contains all the transparency you need including where your money is invested and the performance.

I hope you've learnt something wink

Obviously. There is a limit to how much the fund managers can claim as management fees sef. And its SEC regulated.

Equity is fun if u dont expect it to rise everyday. Some of us were waiting for very red days so we can carry head enter again sef. I no too like the green ASI i am seeing.
