The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has claimed that political support in the South-South region has shifted away from the opposition, insisting that the region is now backing President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections. Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Yilwatda said political alignments had changed significantly since the 2023 general election. According to him, areas that strongly supported former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023 were no longer politically aligned with them. He argued that support for Obi in some northern states, particularly among Christian communities in Plateau and Nasarawa, was influenced largely by religious considerations at the time. “Some states like Plateau, Nasarawa, and a few other northern states, Christian communities supported Peter Obi in 2023 mainly due to religious sentiment,” Yilwatda said. He questioned whether those sentiments still existed, claiming they had faded and that political leaders in those areas had now aligned with Tinubu. “Today, they are fully with President Tinubu from the governors to NASS members are with Mr President,” he added. Yilwatda also claimed that the South-South, which he said previously leaned towards the PDP and Obi during the 2023 presidential election, had shifted its loyalty to the ruling APC. “The South South was purely with PDP and Obi but today all of them, the entire South South is now with Tinubu,” he said. The APC chairman further pointed to what he described as the party’s growing political strength, citing an increase in the number of governors, lawmakers and senators affiliated with the APC since 2023. However, his comments reflect the APC’s political position and have not been independently verified through election outcomes or official declarations from all political stakeholders in the affected regions.

Why Peter Obi? What about Atiku? Are they with him too? Meanwhile let the genuine election result speak and not the geometric progression results APC is counting in the fraudulent presidential primary.
