Bayelsa Airline Makes Maiden Flight by Pakute(op): 1:50pm On May 26
Bayelsa state owned Pioneer Airlines has commenced non-scheduled flight operations with one of the aircraft acquired by the Bayelsa State government, an ATR 72-600, and operated by the private airline.

The flight was flown by Captain M. Ibrahim and First Officer Joyce, a female co-pilot, in the cockpit.

The aircraft taxied off the tarmac of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at 11:00hrs and, following clearance from the control tower, was airborne at 11:10hrs en route the Bayelsa International Airport.

Gov Diri, who was aboard the aircraft was accompanied by a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Gabriel Onyenwife, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters 1, High Chief Collins Cocodia, and five of the governor’s aides.

The Nation gathered that the partnership with Pioneer Airlines kickstarts Bayelsa’s foray into commercial aviation and another opportunity to expand the state’s internally generated revenue base.

Governor Diri expressed confidence in the airline’s ability and capacity to deliver quality services while looking forward to a robust and rewarding partnership with the state.

Congratulations to them, but I think state governors should be investing in power than airlines. The likes of Air Peace are wailing about how unprofitable the industry is and state governors are still jumping into the business

Stop playing.
People who never see water, drink, food, chop, or a road to travel, they buy aircraft.
Partner as a subsidiary of Ibom Air, for proper management, or simply fail as Enugu Air

The aviation industry has one of the thinnest profit margins, yet governors of notoriously poor states are unveiling airlines, aircrafts and airports. It shows low I_Q.

The other day, I read that Abia is building an airport even when at least FIVE states with airports (none in the top two busiest nationwide) are abut to Abia. Meanwhile, illiterate Abian residents were delighted. Few months later, Kogi, too, announced the construction of its own airport. I just laughed

All these governors are just plain stewpid. This avenue of siphoning state funds is being overused. They should get creative and probably use AI or something 😂😆. Every governor now wants to construct airport or start an Airline. How many passengers dey Bayelsa apart from Government officials and some Godfathers.
Small time, dem go comot office bit that damage and dent to state coffers will be there for yet unborn generations to deal with. New dispensations will later flog the airlines and assets to their cronies and acolytes for chicken change.
Which way Naija!

Sometimes you wonder weda the brain of our governors dey grow tumors when dey kill their senses. I was thinking after decentralizing power, every state in Nigeria should have been providing electricity to her citizenry by now, but no, they are only interested in what will serve interest alone.

Nigeria's governors are just corrupt, the airport, the conference centre and now the airline.

States are now responsible for power generation and distribution.
